    Not everyone’s cupcake

In this heartfelt episode of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, Candace explores what it truly means to show up as yourself—fully, honestly, and unapologetically. Inspired by a TV show where each family member expressed themselves freely (even when it created tension), this episode reflects on the contrast so many of us feel in our own lives. The pressure to keep things smooth. The habit of walking on eggshells. The quiet tendency to shrink, soften, or stay silent just to avoid conflict. But what if being real doesn’t have to break relationships? What if things can feel messy… and still be safe? What if disagreement isn’t rejection? This episode is a gentle but powerful reminder that: You don’t have to be perfect to belong You don’t have to stay quiet to be loved And you are allowed to take up space—even if it ruffles a few feathers Because real relationships aren’t built on perfection… they’re built on truth. 💗 If you’re feeling the vibes… Subscribe, rate & review to help us grow this sweet little soul space! 🎧 Let’s stay connected: Follow along on Instagram @candacedanielledunaway   If you’ve been touched by the magic shared here and want to support the podcast, you can now buy me a coffee ☕️ - Thank you for supporting this little corner of joy. 💛 buymeacoffee.com/candacedunaway   If you are ready to dive in and start Growing A Grateful Heart you can get yourself a copy of the gratitude journal here:  Growing A Grateful Heart- A Daily Gratitude Journal   Candace Dunaway is the host of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, a heart-centered space for healing, growth, and high-vibe living. The sculpture is yours to create

This episode is a reminder I needed for myself. After listening to a conversation featuring Ivanka Trump on The Diary of a CEO, something really stayed with me—the idea that if you don’t know who you are, the world will tell you… and over time, you might start to believe it. And it made me pause. Because even with space, time, and all the tools I know support me—like journaling, slowing down, and getting quiet—I’ve noticed how easy it is to avoid truly sitting with myself. To stay busy. To stay distracted. To stay just a little disconnected. In this episode, I reflect on how, without realizing it, we can start to become shaped by everything outside of us—other people’s opinions, expectations, and ideas of who we should be. Like a sculpture formed by many hands. But at some point, we have to pause and ask… Do I even recognize this version of me? This is a gentle, honest invitation to come back to yourself. To reconnect, to listen, and to remember that you are the one who gets to create who you are. Because the truth is— the sculpture is yours to create. It's not about the millions...(but I'll take them too)

There are moments in life that feel like little winks from the universe… quiet confirmations that you’re on the right path, even when you didn’t realize you needed reassurance. This episode was born from one of those moments. I brought a story I’ve been writing—something that’s lived in my heart for years—into my classroom. It wasn’t polished. It wasn’t illustrated. It wasn’t even finished. Just simple words printed on plain white paper. Before I began, I told the class there were no pictures, so they would have to imagine everything in their minds. And they did. They leaned in, they listened, and when I asked what they thought the message was, their answers were so pure and so beautiful—“to have a colorful heart”… “to be grateful.” They felt it. They understood it. Even without the ending. And then life carried on. Recess came, the story paused, and I honestly thought that moment would just drift away like so many small classroom memories do. But days later, a little hand went up. “What happened to that story?” A boy remembered. He was still thinking about it. He wanted to know how it ended. And in that moment, something shifted. Because that’s when I shared the truth—that the story wasn’t finished yet… and that I was the author. The students response? “You’re going to make millions. It’s amazing. We want to buy it.” And while that made me smile (and hey… I’ll take the millions too 😉), that wasn’t the part that stayed with me. What stayed with me was this: They loved the story before they knew it was mine. There was no bias. No expectation. No attachment to me as the creator. Just pure, honest connection. And isn’t that what it’s really about? Not the numbers. Not the recognition. Not even the outcome. But the feeling your creation leaves behind in someone else. The way it lingers in their mind days later. The way it opens something in their heart. That moment reminded me that the things we’re called to create—the stories, the ideas, the little pieces of our soul—they’re not meant to stay tucked away. They’re meant to be shared. Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s unfinished. Even if it only reaches one person. Because you never know who’s listening… who’s remembering… or who’s quietly waiting to hear how your story ends. Making space to thrive

While looking around her home at the plants she’s lovingly placed in carefully chosen pots, Candace has a realization—she doesn’t actually want them to grow. Because growth means change. It means needing a bigger container and more space. In this episode, she reflects on how this mirrors our own lives. So often, we place ourselves in comfortable containers—identities, routines, or environments that once fit—but as we grow, those same spaces can begin to feel restrictive. Our roots want to go deeper. Our branches want to expand. But if we don’t give ourselves the space, we can unintentionally hold ourselves back from thriving. This episode is a gentle invitation to notice where you may have outgrown your own “pot”… and to give yourself permission to expand into something bigger. Rejection, seen through new eyes

Rejection can feel heavy, triggering, and deeply personal—but what if it’s actually guiding us somewhere meaningful? In this episode, Candace shares a recent experience of feeling rejected and the awareness that followed. Where she once would have felt emotionally overwhelmed and dysregulated, she instead noticed something new: space, steadiness, and the ability to observe without spiraling. This shift became a powerful reminder that the inner work she’s been doing is working. Candace explores the idea that rejection isn’t just about what’s happening externally—it’s often a reflection of where we may still be rejecting parts of ourselves. And when those moments arise, they offer us an opportunity to lean in with compassion, curiosity, and deeper self-love. Whether rejection feels intense or surprisingly neutral, it can always be a doorway back to yourself. Pass the remote

In this lighthearted yet meaningful episode, Candace explores the idea of “passing the remote” as a metaphor for life. After noticing how different each family member’s viewing habits are, she reflects on how easy it is to stay in our own comfort zones—watching the same types of shows, consuming the same kinds of stories, and living within our own familiar perspectives. But when we pass the remote—whether literally or figuratively—we open ourselves up to something new. From unexpected favorites like Mayor of Kingstown to family laughs with Young Sheldon and The Middle, Candace shares how letting others take the lead can bring connection, laughter, and surprising joy. This episode is a gentle reminder that growth doesn’t always come from seeking more—it often comes from simply being open to different. When life is both beautiful and hard

In this episode of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, Candace reflects on a conversation she heard while listening to Hilary Duff on Jay Shetty’s podcast. Hilary spoke openly about how life can feel incredibly good in some areas while being very difficult in others—and how those realities can exist at the same time. That insight immediately resonated with Candace and reminded her of a past conversation with Saul Blinkoff, who once described life using the metaphor of a diamond. A diamond has many facets, each reflecting light differently. Some sides sparkle brilliantly, while others may appear quieter or less polished. Just like that diamond, our lives are made up of many roles and experiences. We may be thriving in certain areas—our work, friendships, creativity—while other parts of life may feel challenging, uncertain, or in need of care. Candace shares how comforting it can be to remember that everything doesn’t have to shine perfectly all at once. Different facets of our lives can hold different experiences simultaneously, and that doesn’t diminish the beauty of the whole. This episode is a gentle reminder that your diamond is multi-faceted. Some sides may sparkle brightly today, while others may simply be waiting for their moment in the light. And that’s perfectly okay. Turns out my body recorded everything

In this episode of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, Candace reflects on a nostalgic reel her friend Miranda sent her that read: “Born in the 80s, raised in the 90s, partied in the 2000s… no camera phones, no regrets, no proof.” While the message might spark a laugh or a sense of freedom from a time before everything was documented, it also raises a deeper truth. Even if there were no cameras capturing those moments, the experiences themselves didn’t disappear. The memories, emotions, and impressions often live on within our bodies and subconscious. Candace shares how many of us carry unseen stories, feelings, and patterns that quietly become our baseline. Over time, we may not even realize how much weight we’re holding because it simply becomes normal. This episode is a gentle invitation to become curious about what might be stored within you. By mining your inner world with compassion and awareness, you may discover opportunities to process old experiences, release heaviness, and create more lightness in your life. Even without proof, your body remembers.
