Customer Reviews
Wish more insight would be given
Fun, casual listen. I love all things rock and roll and this is a discussion of one of my favorite movies. I’m happy that it’s being covered. I have a few critiques that I’ll explain now...
When I started listening to this podcast, I was expecting more trivia or deeper insight into the movie. It’s more of a casual discussion, sometimes with guests who don’t know the movie at all. It feels a bit aimless. There’s been a few times I found myself in frustration answering questions out loud that the host and guests were asking about the movie! It’s okay if they don’t know everything about the film, but at least get the basic info that can be obtained with a minimal amount of research. Also I was disappointed that there was discussion of the real-life people who inspired sooo many of the characters (Cameron Crowe of course, Lester Bangs, Led Zeppelin members, other bands’ members, people at Rolling Stone, etc etc) BUT there wasn’t anything about the famous ladies of the rock and roll scene who inspired Penny Lane’s character. Maybe I missed it, or they plan to discuss it later on.
Bottom line: 1. More insightful information about the film would be great, instead of just personal musings. Research the facts! 2. More about inspiration behind Penny Lane
Joy, one minute at a time
Almost famous is an amazing movie. Breaking it down minute by minute gives the hosts a chance to expand on favorite scenes in this modern classic. The 12th minute features one of my favorite scenes in the movie, I often talk about this scene when I'm discussing how siblings influence each other's musicial taste.
Minute 25
Minute 25 show is an example of all the excessive annoying nervous laughing from the podcasters. It’s distracting. If it weren’t, I wouldn’t mention it. I understand people inauthentically laugh because of insecurity. Come on dudes. Show enough confidence to ditch the fake insecure laughing. Own the show, own your opinions, and own your knowledge of the movie.
Great show otherwise.
