Over the years, a new generation of Americans are favoring socialism with an awe of communism over capitalism. Gallup’s latest survey, released September 23, 2026, found that among Americans ages 18–34, 57% have a positive view of socialism, compared with 43% who have a positive view of capitalism. Among Americans 55 and older, the pattern is reversed: 65% view capitalism positively and 34% view socialism positively.
