    PREMIERE: Ancient Methods - Cache La Misère [Persephonic Sirens]

    Ancient Methods returns with his first EP in three years. On “Society of the Spectacle”, we find seven pieces, some of them short, radio play–like sound sketches that draw on Guy Debord’s visionary book of the same name as the conceptual template for selected sonic interpretations. While Ancient Methods’ previous releases already incorporated subtle commentaries on his immediate surroundings, “Society of the Spectacle” dissects microscopic fragments of the text, holding them up like a magnifying glass to illuminate the book’s prophecies as they have materialized in contemporary reality. Musically, however, the EP feels liberated from any attachment to the spirit of the times—almost anachronistically Ancient Methods. Aside from the near-euphoric moments of “Burn The Frame” this may well be the most introverted work of his oeuvre: far removed from sensationalism, yet without paying homage to conservative minimalism. The opening track, “Image Is My Commodity” carries the unmistakable metallic sonic armor, as trembling beats punch through the guts. The tracks rarely exceed the 125 BPM mark, allowing their full industrial force to unfold. Psychedelic elements—already increasingly audible on the previous EP “The Third Siren”—are further developed here, while on “Cache la misère” obscure, polyrhythmic metal spikes drill through loops with a folkloric undertone. The EP’s surprising outlier is “Burn The Frame” featuring vocals by darkwave icon Night in Athens. The track pairs early ’90s techno references with catchy minimal synth elements—a combination previously characteristic of the side project The Loud Age. The A-side opens with Tensal – 24:05, a solid, hypnotic track built on sustained tension and groove, followed by Netika – Albor, delivering raw atmospheres and a precise pulse rooted in the mental side of techno. On the B-side, Joton – Disrupted Patterns showcases his distinctive rhythmic and experimental approach, balancing energy and abstraction, while Ixbalanke – Spectros closes the record with a dark, immersive cut full of texture and analog depth.     Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @pyramidal-track for the 134th installment of Amplify Series. Pyramidal Decode is an Italian techno producer and label owner known for his polyhedral approach to techno, blending ambient, hard industrial, and hypnotic techno sounds. Born in Italy in 1998, he began his music journey as a young teenager, playing both techno productions and classical instruments. Over the past decade, he has gained recognition as a respected and innovative force in the electronic music scene, with releases on notable labels including Jeff Mills' Axis Recordings and Warm Up Recordings. His music is characterized by intense percussion, analog textures, and a hypnotic, atmospheric quality that creates a mind-bending, immersive experience for listeners. In 2024, Pyramidal Decode founded PHYR Records, a vinyl-focused techno label that emphasizes physical releases and avant-garde artistic design. The label's debut release was a various artists album featuring prominent techno producers such as PWCCA, Irazu, Unkle Fon, and Oliver Rosemann, showcasing Pyramidal Decode's commitment to quality and innovation in techno. PHYR Records has quickly become known for cutting-edge music and compelling design, including collaborations with visual artists 5599 Studio and Lazly Bateman. A major highlight of Pyramidal Decode's career and PHYR Records is his artistic collaboration with legendary techno figure Oscar Mulero. Together, they released "IL POEMA," a landmark double vinyl release on PHYR Records, which is an introspective and avant-garde techno album inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. The album features 12 tracks split between the two artists and received critical acclaim for its depth, atmosphere, and mastery of techno aesthetics. This collaboration exemplifies Pyramidal Decode's ability to work closely with established artists in the techno world while maintaining his innovative sound and label vision. Pyramidal Decode is renowned for his dynamic live performances and DJ sets around the world. He has played in some of the most respected techno venues and festivals globally, captivating audiences with his intense, immersive sets that blend hypnotic rhythms and atmospheric textures. His ability to connect with diverse crowds and adapt his sound to different environments has solidified his reputation as a live innovator in techno music.     The 38th Earwiggle release comes from one of our favourites, and a debutant on the label, Serbian studio supremo Commissar Lag. The “Absolution EP” finds Lag delivering his playful vision of techno, dipping into the past while also pointing us to the future, all framed through an exquisite production gleam. Dense, rolling rhythms reminiscent of early ’00s Stockholm techno, combined with a catchy repeating vocal sequence (one of Lag’s trademark techniques) and rising sirens, result in the monster opening title track “Absolution”. “Aim Without Mercy” is another club destroyer - jabbing keys, broken jagged beats, and a series of rising pressure points making it another winner. “The Blessed” meanwhile, shifts the mood from mental to majestic, with interchanging leads and reverb-drenched climaxes marking the big-room peak of the record. Rounding things off is Irish wunderkind Dylan Fogarty, who reimagines “Aim Without Mercy” through a deep and psychedelic lens, layering textural collages over surging, jacking 909s. Ian, a Spanish-born London-based DJ, commenced his career in 1999, initially influenced by the techno rhythms of Berlin. In 2006, he established Emphatic Records, which has since released artists such as Ben Sims, DJ Preach, Cristian Varela, d. Func, Jonas Kopp, Arnaud Le Texier, and numerous others. Ian’s music has been released on labels including Sleaze Records, Children of Tomorrow, BEK Audio, TMM Records, and Black Codes Experiments.     Amplify Series 132 - Leiras

    Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @theownlife for the 132d installment of Amplify Series. Always committed to the music and with the ability to smoothly transmit the different levels of intensity, with a tireless study of the diversity of rhythms and the different genres within dance music, Leiras has grown to be one to keep an eye on in the international techno scene. Born in the north of Spain, he came across clubs like ‘La Real’ and ‘El Jardin’ in early 2000. Two clubs important to the history of techno music within Spain, and more so, also important to Leiras musical background, as they influenced him and his artistic career in a fundamental way. Being the mind behind ‘Ownlife’, a record label focusing on the most visceral, hypnotical and sometimes experimental techno music, he created a home mainly for his own productions, but also a space with the freedom to express his own particular vision of dance music. With this in mind, Ownlife is also a platform to showcase Leiras favorites producers at the time. As a DJ he is influenced by different styles in electronica, which clearly shows at the time when he propounds his own sound from the DJ booth. He always establishes a bridge in between the past – the purity of the first works of pioneer techno producers, and the future – visible in the advanced character of the vanguardist productions of different artists these days. This compromise with the continuous music digging, the one created in the past by authentic visionaries, is what inspired him to create the sublabel “SELD” based on one single concept; to perpetuate the legacy of some of techno’s pioneers, and bringing back the attention to music that keeps the pure character and commitment it was created with. During the past years, Leiras' work has brought him to clubs all over the world, from Europe to Asia and all the way to South America, playing at respected clubs and festivals.
