Anchor Points

Devin Almonte

There’s theology hiding in ordinary life — in routines, in distractions, in the moments we rush past. Most of us move too quickly to notice. Anchor Points is a short, story-driven devotional hosted by Devin Almonte. Each episode lingers over something familiar and uncovers what Scripture has been saying about it all along. This isn’t a rushed devotional or a motivational boost. It’s steady formation. Quiet conviction. Truth that anchors.

Overcoming the "Awkward" in Sharing Your Faith | The InSight Out Show

Have you ever felt like you’re not quite ready to share your faith? I get that. It can feel awkward trying to bring it up in conversation, especially when you don’t know how people will respond. And sometimes it feels like you need some kind of special training before you’re allowed to speak up. But maybe sharing our faith is simpler than we make it. Think about little kids when they learn something new, they can’t wait to tell somebody. They’re not worried about saying it perfectly. They’re just excited to share what they’ve discovered. That can be us, too. We don’t have to have every answer. We can simply share what God has shown us, how He has helped us, and why He matters to us. We’re still learning, but we’re also already equipped. God can use a willing heart, and His message is powerful enough. Scripture (NIV): Acts 4:20 — “As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Reflection Questions: Where do I sometimes feel unqualified to share my faith? What has God done in my life that I can simply and honestly share? Who might need encouragement from something God has shown me? 👉 Join the conversation here: https://www.facebook.com/DevinAlmonte/ 🎙️ Enjoying the show? Stop Treating God Like He’s in the Other Room | Anchor Points | Ep. 52

Have you ever felt like God was a distant concept rather than a close friend? It’s easy to talk about Him, acknowledging His incredible power and presence "over there," while completely missing Him right here in the room. We often relegate His presence to another room, another house, or another state, treating Him like a friend who isn’t actually sitting on the couch next to us. But a beautiful, subtle shift in one of the most famous passages of scripture changes everything about how we are meant to walk with Him daily. Psalm 23 begins in the third person, describing what He does from a distance. But suddenly, everything changes. The language shifts from "He" to "You," transforming a distant theology into an intimate, face-to-face relationship. He isn't just knocking from the other room—He is right here with us. Scripture (NIV):Psalm 23:3–4 — “He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Reflection Questions:Am I speaking about God as a distant concept, or speaking to Him as a present friend? In what areas of my daily walk am I keeping God in "the other room" instead of inviting Him into the space next to me? How does shifting my language from "He" to "You" change the way I experience God's presence in my current struggles? 👉 Join the conversation here: https://www.facebook.com/DevinAlmonte/ 🎙️ Enjoying the show? What Walking to the Edge of Life Teachs Us About True Success | Anchor Points | Ep. 51

Walking alongside a loved one during their final days has a way of changing your perspective. Things that once seemed urgent suddenly lose their grip. The headlines, the arguments, the achievements, and all the things we spend so much time chasing don't carry the same weight anymore. What remains are the people. The conversations. The love shared. The moments that remind us life itself is a gift from God. I've seen this firsthand, and it's one of those lessons that's easy to understand in theory but much harder to live out day to day. Maybe we don't have to wait for a crisis, a diagnosis, or a final chapter to remember what truly matters. Maybe today is an invitation to slow down, step off the treadmill for a moment, and ask God to help us focus on the things that carry eternal value. Scripture (NIV): Psalm 90:12 — “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Reflection Questions: What am I spending most of my attention and energy on right now?Are the things consuming my thoughts aligned with what matters most? How can I be more intentional with the people and opportunities God has placed in front of me today? 👉 Join the conversation here: https://www.facebook.com/DevinAlmonte/ 🎙️ Enjoying the show?
