I suggested we go shoot prairie dogs in the Fort Pierre National Grassland the day before. I had done this many times, he never had. Ep 051 – My Speech From Dad’s Funeral
Dad's funeral was this past Thursday, August 31, 2023. My family has received dozens of messages, social media comments, and other incredible tributes written and sent to us, which was eye opening. We had no idea how much he meant to other people and how many people he touched. As I was working on the obituary, Mom said "We need to make fun of him, too." So that's what this episode is. You will hear Sydney Powers, my nieces best friend and friend of Dad's, read a number of the kind notes that were sent to us. Then I tell several fun stories about Dad.
Next week I will return to normal episodes and celebrate the one year anniversary of the podcast! For my regular listeners, thank you for listening and allowing me to use this passion project of mine to also be some sort of catharsis.
The audio quality is not great, there was a buzz in the church audio system. I did my best to get rid of it.

Ep 050 – I’m Going to Miss My Dad, Tom Erickson
This weeks episode, and probably next week’s episode are going to be different. My family had our collective hearts broken on Friday, August 25, 2023. My dad, Tom Erickson, was driving to Sioux Falls on old 77, nine miles north of Beresford, when a man driving a giant tractor hauling silage, blew through the stop sign and collided with his car. He died on impact. I speak for a couple of minutes about how great Dad was, and then I play the episode I recorded with him back in March. Mourn with me for the first few minutes, then laugh along with us as I hang out with my dad and hear him tell stories in the way that only he could.

Former USPSA President, current USPSA presidential candidate, Yee-Min Lin was at Area 3 in Nebraska and I was able to catch up with him to record a podcast. We had a great conversation. Other topics: Going from Western Kentucky to Yale to Iraq in the Marine Corps, how we got into USPSA, why Yee-Min is running again after being removed on a selectively enforced technicality, how clubs deal with their home ranges, our thoughts on Area 3 shooting and working, Multigun Nationals, and I ask him why people should vote for him in the special election runoff.

I’ve listened to you on radio for a lot it years but hearing your podcast feels REAL. In this element you’re free to talk about whatever you want, say whatever you want and be yourself (not a corporate mouth piece). Congratulations Andy for taking this leap to freedom. You’re doing great. Every guest has been very entertaining. Jackie is HILARIOUS. She’s obviously has a gift for entertaining.

The show is great, I look forward to it every week for my commute! The longer episodes are perfect! Great to hear you unfiltered and doing your thing! Keep bringing Tash back, and Mitchell too, because why not! I recommended to a friend who didn’t even know you from radio and she loved it too.

I took 104.7 off my radio settings 😂 won't listen without you and Tash. I'm curious to know why Tash left. Anyways glad your back, can't wait to hear more.
