Post-Mini Camp Bears & NFL News. Caitlin Clark off Olympic Roster. NBA Finals Game 2

In this week's episode (S3E5), The Brothers West & Finn cover bad takes and questionable calls through the sports world. No league was safe. In their warm-up, “Bad Calls of the Week,” Justin & Finn get into a passionate debate over whether or not USA Basketball made the right decision leaving Caitlin Clark off the US Women’s Basketball Team for the ‘24 Olympics. Justin argues against, citing Clark’s unparalleled & unprecedented marketing upside. Finn argues for, citing her WNBA’s team record and shooting woes early on.  Then in, “Tales of a Degenerate,” Justin cites his betting woes in the Preakness, U.S. Open, and MLB. J.D. and Finn don’t let him go without a little ribbing. Justin & Finn also explain their wager: Whether or not Coleman Hawkins will score a seven-figure NIL deal with a new school so late in the NCAA Men’s Basketball offseason. Leading us up to the Main Event: While there wasn’t much news out of 2024 June OTA, the Brothers West & Finn cover a variety of NFL stories, including the retirement of NY Giants TE Darren Waller.  They also explore the curious case regarding the inactivity of Bears’ projected starting RG Nate Davis. According to conflicting reports, Davis spent most of mini camp either on the sidelines or on a bike. While normally, such a thing wouldn’t trigger a mention, reports out of Davis’ departure from the Titans in 2023 coupled with his injury-plagued campaign with Bears in ‘23 leaves room for speculation. Finn further expounded on the story with a blog post. 00:00 - Intro 07:00 - Bad Call of the Week 25:21 - Tales of a Degenerate 30:29 - Everything Else 01:11:23 - Final Thoughts

2024 NFC North Offense Rankings after the NFL Draft | S3E3

We analyze the state of NFC North offenses at each position type after the draft and before OTAs. Despite being Bears fans, and despite all the upgrading, we rarely rank them #1 anywhere...today.  We started off the show with our Bad Calls of the Week. Finn ripped the Lakers’ broad-spectrum excuses following their inevitable first round series thrashing at the hands of the Nuggets. Justin tells Tom Brady that during a roast, all bets are off – including octogenarian team owners. And in a lighter moment, J.D. Laments how his vampire skin doesn’t work well with a sunny day on the golf course.  In Tales of a Degenerate, Justin regales on a success of picking 18:1 Kentucky Derby underdog Mystik Dan, and how it covered his other bets.  All leading to our Main Event. The boys went all out, graphic icons and everything, and rating the Bears, Lions, Vikings, and Packers at the following positions: TE, WR, OL, RB, and QB. (Okay. J.D. and Justin went all out. Finn was busy fussing with sick toddlers but was with-it enough to pick QBs.) In several categories, the boys were fair enough to shine a kind light on the Lions and proper shade at the Packers. As expected, when the conversation came around to Quarterback and Wide Receiver, things got spicy: Do the Bears have the best wide receiving core in the NFC north? Where does Caleb Williams rank before his first rookie camp snap? How significant were the Bears first two 2024 NFL Draft selections? Tune in to find out.

How Accurate Were We? 2024 NFL Draft Recap & Bears Draft Grade | S3E2

In this edition, the boys review their first ten picks in the NFL draft to see who was the most accurate. They also go through each of the Bears 2024 NFL Draft picks to give their grades. A fun-filled episode includes their “Bad Calls of the Week”:  Finn goes off (maybe too much - IUFB fan, maybe?) on how many different ways Atlanta messed up the Michael Penix, Jr. pick.  Justin’s passionate plea to the McCaskeys on the asset value of owning their own stadium, as well as all the shortcoming & contradictions in the presentation that will likely keep the new museum campus-area stadium proposal (in its current proposal) from achieving its goals   And in a beautiful moment, JD gets real on himself for letting his kids break their sleep schedule: What happens when coaches have late nights, long weekends, and little children In the “Tales of a Degenerate,” section (for education only, if you have a concern regarding betting or wagering, call 1-800-GAMBLER or text 800GAM for more information), Justin, like any White Sox fan, learns not to depend on them (then we’ll probably forget the lesson). In the “Bleeding Hearts of Bleeding Fans” section:   JD swoons over the “Deadpool and Wolverine” trailer Finn, father of twin toddlers,  gets emotional over the draft night tribute video from Caleb Williams’ mother.  Justin laments about how the NCAA Portal is going to leave his Illini men’s basketball team unrecognizable in November, even after an Elite Eight run. And, to the main event:  We find out if Finn’s four hours of NFL draft prediction prep pays off with the most accurate picks How everyone in the world missed Michael Penix, Jr. on the #8 pick, and how it helped remove all doubt the Bears were taking Rome Odunze How the boys graded the Bears 2024 NFL draft - 5 picks (hint: well) Tory Taylor - the Crocodile Punter Lightly, lightly touching on UDFAs, as the brothers West touch on the Illini the Bears signed As the Bears march towards OTAs.
