    Parents’ Corner: Breaking News Live. Today’s episode: “The System Gets an F: Bullying, Suicide, and the Fight for Our Kids.”

    • Right now, 1 in 5 kids is being bullied today. • Bullied kids are up to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than kids who aren’t. • 160,000 kids skip school every single day just to avoid being bullied. • Suicide is the second leading cause of death for kids and young adults ages 10 to 24. Let that sink in. This isn’t small. This isn’t “kids being kids.” This is a crisis in our schools and in our homes. Today we’re talking about bullying. There are those who say “kids will be kids.” I say that’s false. Kids being kids is one thing — being bullied is another. There are kids who are bigger than others, kids who think they’re better than others, and kids who just don’t care sometimes — because of what’s going on in their household. Can we go to a kid’s house and have a conversation with their parents? Absolutely not. Can we catch them and talk to them where they are? Yes. We meet them where they are. That’s what we’re trying to do with Parents’ Corner: Breaking News Live — make sure parents have more power when it comes to their kids. I know my kids better than anybody. They don’t think so, but I do. Every parent knows their kid better than anybody. And the harder we push the system, the more we see how deep it runs — it doesn’t care, almost like an algorithm that doesn’t care at some levels. When it comes to reporting bullying and holding bullies accountable, the system gets an F. Just like a recent visit to one school revealed — an F. We don’t want to throw shade on anybody, but we want the truth told: the anti-bullying system is broken. It’s a disaster.
