Allowing Christ In with Nate Foutz

President Dallin H. Oaks recently taught, "It is vital that Latter-day Saints do not lose their understanding of the purpose of marriage and the value of children." Our guest for this episode is Nate Foutz. As a young father, he understands the purpose of marriage and the value of children. He and his wife, Kate, are helping their children grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.  This last year brought heartache to Nate and his family as they mourned the passing of his mom, Margriet. Nate's faith in our Father's Plan is evident as he shares his tender feelings for his mom and their continued relationship. We know you will enjoy listening to Nate share his love for family and fatherhood in this episode. Nate Foutz grew up in Mapleton, Utah, as the third of five siblings. His parents made sure they all had opportunities to explore music, reading, sports, and youth groups. Most importantly, they were taught to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nate served as a missionary in the coastal areas of Virginia and North Carolina. In 2017, he married Kate Elsey. After graduating from BYU with a degree in English Language, he spent a couple of years as a teacher: first teaching English as a Second Language, and then teaching Seminary part-time.  He is now working in the software industry. Currently, his greatest accomplishment is working with Kate to keep their three young children alive, well-fed, and relatively happy. Together, the Foutz family enjoys taking walks, reading, camping, movies, music, and racing each other in Mario Kart.

Who We Are and Who We Can Become with Breanna Pennock

In the October 2025 general conference, Sister J. Anette Dennis said, "Christlike treatment of others goes far beyond our families and congregations. It includes our sisters and brothers of other faiths or no faith at all. It includes our brothers and sisters from other countries and cultures, as well as those of different political persuasions. We are all part of the family of God, and He loves all His children. He desires that His children love Him and also one another." Breanna Pennock grew up in an energetic family that taught her to love all of God's children. She has channeled that energy toward expressing love to our brothers and sisters throughout the world.  Breanna grew up in Lindon, Utah, and started her college journey playing soccer at BYU–Hawaii, where she spent every spare moment surfing, hiking, and exploring the island. After serving a mission in Portugal, Breanna transferred to BYU in Provo to study accounting and discovered a love for strategic problem-solving and business. Now, she's the Chief Strategy Officer at HXP—an international nonprofit that leads humanitarian trips across the globe for thousands of youth. It's fast-paced, meaningful, and never dull. Outside of work, Breanna invests in real estate, loves staying active, and is always on the lookout for her next adventure.  So far, Breanna has visited over 40 countries, bungee jumped in New Zealand, and completed two five-day wilderness survival competitions in Maine. Her main joy comes from spending Saturdays at the Orem temple as a temple worker. She's been doing that for 5 years now at both the Orem and Provo temples, and she loves every minute of it. Breanna is grateful for her time with God and for seeing His miracles in her life every day.

Blessings of Reciprocity with Susan Tanner

In April 2003 President Susan W. Tanner said, "To be steadfast in Christ implies keeping covenants. Each week we renew our baptismal covenants to take His name upon us, to "always remember him," and to "keep his commandments". We are steadfast in Christ when we do these things, and our spirits are lifted and our hearts are filled with love. Simply stated, when I keep my covenants, I feel hope and I feel love."  We felt hope and love as we visited with Sister Tanner for this episode. Listeners will remember her from her time as the Young Women's general president from 2002 to 2008.  In this conversation, Sister Tanner shares about nurturing and ministering in her family and in the church. She also shares personal interactions with President Oaks, including how he came to minister to her and her husband, John, following a serious bike accident. Susan Tanner, daughter of Richard and Barbara Winder, grew up with her three brothers on a dairy farm in Granger, Utah, surrounded by her extended family. Susan graduated from BYU with a degree in Humanities with an emphasis in English and French. She loves to read, run, hike, cook, and sew. She and her husband, John, have lived in California, Florida, England, Brazil, Utah, and Hawaii. Sister Tanner is the mother of five children, including one son and four daughters. More than anything, she loves being a wife, mother, and grandmother.  Sister Tanner has presided over all the women's auxiliaries at both the ward and stake levels and has served as a temple ordinance worker. She has been on Church writing committees and was a member of the Relief Society General Board for a few months before being called as Young Women General President in 2002. In 2009, she was called to write a book about the history and purpose of Relief Society, Daughters in My Kingdom. Sister Tanner served with her husband as mission leaders in the Brazil, São Paulo South Mission. Later, Brother and Sister Tanner enjoyed serving as president and companion at BYU Hawaii.

Bridges of Inclusion with Jennifer Jensen

President Russell M. Nelson said, "The gospel net is the largest net in the world. God has invited all to come unto Him, 'black and white, bond and free, male and female.' There is room for everyone. However, there is no room for prejudice, condemnation, or contention of any kind...My dear brothers and sisters, the best is yet to come for those who spend their lives building up others. Today I invite you to examine your discipleship within the context of the way you treat others. I bless you to make any adjustments that may be needed so that your behavior is ennobling, respectful, and representative of a true follower of Jesus Christ." President Nelson taught us to be peacemakers and to reach out to others who are different from us. He taught us to be inclusive and build bridges of understanding.  Our guest for this episode is Jennifer Jensen, who strives to build bridges of understanding in her life. Jennifer is actively engaged in her community. In this episode, we learn from Jennifer the importance of inclusivity. It is fascinating to learn about Jennifer's upbringing as a daughter in New York within an immigrant community in this conversation.
