International Tenor Colin Judson and local musician Barney Green chat about music and other things (but mainly music), interview friends in the industry giving an insight in to what it's like working in the Arts, whether singer, musician, performer or whatever.     Richard Thomas is a British musician, writer, and comedy actor. He is best known for composing, writing and scoring the award-winning Jerry Springer: The Opera with book and additional lyrics co-written with Stewart Lee. Thomas collected the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical Score in 2004 .Starting on 25 February 2007, BBC Two aired his series, Kombat Opera Presents..., comprising five standalone musical parodies of well-known television programmes.     In Episode 5 of Arts Wholed, Barney catches up with Singer and Songwriter Samantha Whates. Her website at https://www.samanthawhates.me/ describes her thus: Scottish singer-songwriter and Rough Trade Records recording artist Samantha Whates is a hugely respected figure on the London folk & roots scene. Her beautifully crafted, poetic songs retain a strong affinity with her Scottish roots, cultivating a sound that is thoroughly contemporary, rooted in tradition, yet uniquely her own.     So here it is...the first in a series of podcasts by International Tenor Colin Judson and local musician Barney Green. We'll be chatting weekly about music and other things (but mainly music!) and interviewing friends in the industry, the idea being that through these check-ins you'll get a insight in to what it's like working in the Arts, whether singer, musician, performer, stage crew, technical, promo or whatever.  The subjects and chat will be wide-ranging which basically means we will go off-map, digress madly, seem to show little consistency and ping off on tangents strange at any given moment but this pretty much describes what the Arts are about anyway so...strap in, enjoy this first offering and get Arts Wholed with us.
