47 | I Thought I Was “Doing What Needed to Be Done”… I Was Actually Avoiding My Life

Most of us think we’re just doing what needs to be done… Showing up. Working hard. Holding it all together. But what if the thing you’re most proud of… is actually what you’ve been hiding behind? In this episode, I’m sharing a realization I didn’t see coming — that for years, I wasn’t just committed to my work… I was using it as a place to feel safe. A place where I felt in control. A place where I knew I wouldn’t fail. And without even realizing it, I was avoiding parts of my life that felt harder, more uncertain, and more personal. If you’ve ever found yourself:  Constantly working (even when you don’t have to)  Struggling to “turn off” your brain  Feeling more confident in your career than in your personal life  Or wondering why rest feels uncomfortable… This episode is going to hit close to home. We’re talking about:  Why high performers often hide in work  The connection between control, comfort, and avoidance  How your home life and work life are more connected than you think  And what happens when you finally start showing up in the areas you’ve been avoiding Because the truth is… You don’t need to choose between success and your personal life. But you do have to be honest about what you’ve been avoiding. If this episode resonates with you, make sure to follow the podcast and share it with someone who needs to hear this too. 44 | Money Doesn’t Buy Happiness… But It Might Be Why You Feel Stuck

We’ve all heard it before… money doesn’t buy happiness. But what if not having it is the very thing keeping you stuck? In this episode of Ash to Dusk, I’m opening up about my personal relationship with money—the mistakes, the fear, the shame, and the reality of what it’s like to hit rock bottom and have to rebuild from nothing. This conversation was sparked by a listener who reached out asking, “How do I leave when I can’t afford to?” And the truth is… this is something so many people are quietly struggling with. I’m not a financial expert. But I have lived it. From bankruptcy and almost losing everything… to rebuilding and creating a life with more stability and freedom—this episode is about what money really impacts beyond just your bank account. We talk about: Why money affects your peace more than people admitThe reality of being stuck in situations due to financesThe importance of having access to your own moneyThe mindset shift that can change everythingAnd the hard truth about what it takes to get outIf you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward financially… you are not alone. There is another side to this. And you can get there. 43 | I Fixed My Life With This Simple Morning Routine (No More Chaos)

Hey friend 🤍 This week is a little bit of a shift for Ash to Dusk… and I’m really excited about it. We’re starting to create more intentional space in the podcast—where Sundays focus on life, motherhood, and the personal side of things… and midweek, we lean into leadership, growth, and building something of your own. And today is the first episode in that new direction. We’re talking about something that sounds simple—but has completely changed how I show up in my life: ✨ My morning routine Not the overwhelming, unrealistic routines you see online… but the small, consistent habits that help you feel grounded, focused, and ready for the day ahead. Because the truth is—when we start our day in chaos, we carry that energy into everything else. But when we take even a little bit of time for ourselves first?  Everything shifts. In this episode, I’m sharing: What my real morning routine looks like as a mom and business ownerThe simple habits that helped me feel more in controlWhy your routine doesn’t need to be complicated to be effectiveHow to start choosing yourself first—without guiltIf you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re constantly pouring into everyone else before yourself… this conversation is for you. You don’t need to change everything overnight.  You just need a better starting point. — 💌 You can find more resources at: ashleymorena.com 📬 Want to connect or send a letter?  PO BOX 457  Green, Ohio 44232 — If this episode resonated with you, I’d love to hear from you.  Share it, send a message, or leave a review—it truly means so much. 42 | A Small Act of Kindness That Completely Changed My Perspective

Sometimes the world can feel heavy. Between the constant noise on social media, the news, and the everyday stress of life, it can start to feel like everything around us is negative. But this week something small happened that reminded me there is still so much good in the world. In this episode of Ash to Dusk, I’m sharing a story about a quiet act of kindness that completely shifted my perspective. During my son’s recent IEP meeting, I learned that his intervention specialist had been giving him a quiet place to eat lunch every day because the cafeteria environment was overwhelming for him. What meant even more was learning she was doing this during her own lunch break. It was a simple moment, but it reminded me how many people are quietly showing up and doing good every single day. I also read a letter from a listener who wrote in to share how the I Am Wellness Edit series helped her navigate a new season of life in retirement and begin making meaningful changes for her health and routine. In this episode we talk about: • Finding the good when the world feels overwhelming • Why small acts of kindness matter more than we realize • The power of gratitude and recognizing the people who help us • How writing things down can help you create real change in your life • A listener story about wellness, routine, and making positive changes If you’re looking for more resources, you can find blog posts, the Wellness Edit series, and additional tools at: ashleymorena.com If you’d like to write into the podcast and share something you're celebrating or navigating in your life, you can send a letter to: Ashley Morena PO BOX 457 Green, Ohio 44232 Your letters mean more than you know and they help shape future conversations here on the podcast. Thanks for being here, my friend. Until next time, keep your light burning from ash to dusk.
