This episode is co-sponsored by Hardi Kamsani and my dad, Azman Repin. Thank you and may God bless you.     [Azimah] Hello! May peace be upon you!  [Syazana] You are listening to the brand new season of the podcast with me, Syazana, and the Astro Duo, Azfar and Azimah. This is the second episode of  Season 2. We are now in the last ten (10) days of Ramadan.  [Azfar] We would like to wish Ramadan Kareem to our Muslim listeners. May Almighty God, Allah SWT, grant you the special gift of meeting Laylatul Qadar, the Night of Decree and the Night of Power, which is better than a thousand months, ameen!   “There is also a special link between this night and seeking forgiveness from God.  A’isha R.A. asked the Prophet S.A.W., “O Messenger of Allah! If I knew which night is Laylatul-Qadr, what should I say during it?”    And he S.A.W. instructed her to say: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عُفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي   O Allah! You are Most Forgiving, and you love to forgive. So forgive me.”   [Syazana] For more information on Ramadan and the significance of Laylatul-Qadr, visit YaqeenInstitute.org and check out the link in the podcast transcript to read its research paper. https://yaqeeninstitute.org/read/paper/why-laylatul-qadr-the-significance-virtues-of-the-most-important-night-of-the-year   [Azfar] Now, let’s continue with the Ramadan theme. Do you want tips to stay fit and healthy in Ramadan? Let’s listen to a wonderful sharing on how to stay fit and healthy in Ramadan by Coach Zarina…   [Azimah] Woohoo!    [Zarina] Ramadan Kareem to all. Thank you Syazana and the Astro Duo for inviting me to this brand new season. I am so happy to be back in this blessed month of Ramadan!    It has been a busy year for me! I lead a variety of classes at several Shape Up NYC locations and Long Island City YMCA. These classes include Bootcamp, Cardio Sculpt, Deep Definitions and Indoor Cycling.    Therefore, it’s very important for me to stay healthy especially in this month where we observe the fast in addition to spiritual development and additional worship to Allah SWT.   [Azfar] What practical tips do you recommend to those who want to stay fit and healthy in Ramadan?   [Zarina] I would like to recommend 3 tips today.   First, I would encourage everyone … To stay active by incorporating exercise or physical activity into your daily schedule   It’s always good to check with your doctor first if you are fit to engage in any physical activity or exercise.  Once cleared, opt for Low Intensity Workout by using your own Body Weight. This could be a walk around the neighborhood with a few rounds of Squats, Lunges and Push Ups.   Stretching is also highly recommended.  It’s best if you could include at least 10-15 minutes of exercise routine daily. It could probably ease your body and joints when performing your nightly prayers, inshaa Allah, God willing.  [Azfar] When is the best time to exercise in Ramadan?    [Zarina] The suggested time for a person who is fasting is about an hour before break-of-fast known as Iftar which is at sunset or before the pre-dawn meal known as Suhoor.   My second tip would be to consider nutrient-dense meals, water-rich food and plenty of water.  +Foods that are high in Fiber and Protein take longer to digest hence give you steady energy and ease your bowel movement.   Overnight Oats, Whole Grains, Fruits, Lentils & Eggs are some good examples.   +Water-Rich fruits and vegetables such as Cucumber, Celery & Watermelon are certainly good options.   +Remember to drink lots of water to help combat dehydration. Perhaps you can drink more water during Iftar and Suhoor ya!   When breaking your fast during Iftar, it is recommended to break your fast like our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with dates in odd number(s): eat 1, 3, 5 or even 7 pieces if you can.  This reminds me of a narration by Al-Tarmidhi, 658:   “When any one of you breaks his fast, let him break his fast with dates for that is a blessing; if there are no dates then with water, for that is a means of purification.”    [Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi, 658.]   Dates are easily digested and serve as a quick source of energy and nutrients after a day of fasting!    And my final tip (3) is to take a little rest or naps during the day.   The additional salah or prayers in the evenings to early morning affect your sleep pattern. Rest when you have a chance during the day. A nap helps to recharge the body and definitely improve your mood!    These are my three tips to stay fit and healthy during Ramadan.   Most importantly, listen to your body and do what is best for your physical and spiritual wellness for the sake of Allah SWT.   All the best and Ramadan Kareem everyone!   [Azfar] We hope that you will benefit from the practical tips shared by Coach Zarina.   [Syazana] Till we meet again in the next episode…bye! ~ End of episode~   We’ve now come to the end of the show today. Sit back, relax and be inspired by the awesome people that we highlight in the podcast…   Seeking Knowledge and Wellness [Azimah] Hello! May peace be upon you! [Syazana] You are listening to episode three of season two with me, Syazana, and the Astro Duo: Azfar and Azimah.  [Sound effects 🔘] “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.” Seeking knowledge is our topic for today so let’s introduce our special guest whom we interviewed during a family trip to Cairo, Egypt way back in November 2022. [Azimah] Let’s welcome… [Sound effects 🥁] Ustadha Fatin Insyirah Binte Mohamed Azan!  [Sound effect 👏🏼]  She’s also my lovely cousin! Woohoo!  Assalamu’alaikum, habibati (May peace be upon you, my darling)? [Fatin] Wa’alaikumsalam! (And may peace be upon you too!)   Question 1 [Sound effects ✅] [Azimah] How did you feel after graduating from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt? [Sound effects 🪄] [Fatin] Bismillahirahmanirahim. Alhamdulillah (Praise and thanks to Allah SWT)! I feel delightful and unbelievable graduating from Al-Azhar University. If you guys don’t know, Al-Azhar University is one of the best universities in Cairo (Egypt) and also around the world.  [Sound effects 🎉]   Alhamdulillah! I’ve just gotten my certificate after four (4) years of hustling and studying like crazy!   Question 2 [Sound effects ✅] [Azimah] Were you afraid when you left Singapore to study in Egypt? [Sound effects 🪄] [Fatin] Honestly, afraid and excited to start my own journey without my family members with me. Yeah! I’m traveling abroad with my friends only. That was my first time being independent, just with my friends to go abroad for my studies and it’s not an easy decision for me to make because I’m very family oriented.    Question 3 [Sound effects ✅] [Syazana] How do you cope with being homesick while studying overseas? [Sound effects 🪄] For the first few months, I always call my mom everyday, call my mom, call my grandma, call my father. Alhamdulillah! Now we have social media where we can easily interact with our family members. Despite the time difference (from) Cairo and Singapore, alhamdulillah, I still managed. When I come back from school, I will straight away call my mom because I know once I come back from school, my mom’s gonna sleep because usually I come back from school around 4:00 PM and Singapore time around 10:00 PM. My mom usually sleeps early so I will (be) like “Hello, Mom! I’m back from school!” [Sound effects✅] [Azimah] Let’s find out what her mom, Aini Salim, felt about letting her go and study overseas. [Sound effects 🪄] [Aini] At first it was difficult. But because of the journey for her to continue her studies and passion, I  wish her all the best for her to proceed with what she loves to do. And I hope that Allah SWT will always protect her.   Question 4 [Sound effects ✅] [Azimah] Do you have any study tips to recommend? [Sound effects 🪄] [Fatin] Firstly, when you want to study, we need to check or we need to know what’s our weakness and what is our strength. For example, I need to make a  timetable for myself because I need to discipline myself because here in Egypt, we don’t have attendance, we don’t have any assignments to do. So when I’m here with my friends, actually we don’t have anything to do, we are not busy with any assignments and all.  [Sound effects 🥁🥁] For me, my studying tip is that I need to make a study timetable. For example, before I get my exam timetable, I need to set a timetable, where each day, what subject I need to revise. For example, on Monday, I need to revise Fiqh and I need to set a target. My book, there’s 300 pages. So on Monday I need to read that book from (the) first page till 60 pages, for example. If that day I have not finished that 60 pages, I can’t sleep! [Sound effects🫣] If I sleep, then the next day or the next time I revise my Fiqh subject, it will be you know… [Sound effects 😮] [Azimah] You’ll struggle. [Fatin] Yeah! I will struggle! Question 5 [Sound effects ✅] [Syazana] What advice do you have for our listeners, especially students studying overseas who are far, far away from home and family? [Sound effects 🪄] 1) Trust in Allah SWT and His Masterplan  Sometimes what we want, we don’t get it but Allah SWT gives the opposite things. For example, if we want something for example if we want A, sometimes Allah SWT will not give us A but He will give us B. But we, as a human being, sometimes we will be like “Why Allah SWT doesn’t give me the prayer that I asked for, the A for example but Allah gives me B?”  Whatever Allah SWT gives, it’s actually the best for you.  [Sound effects 🪄] 2) Allah SWT is listening so make du’a to Him. As a student, when you feel you have a problem, ask du’a (supplication) from Allah SWT because he is listening. [Sound effects 🔘] [Syazana] As His humble devotees, we submit to Allah’s will and decree. Making du’a itself is an act of ibadah or worship and when Allah answers our du’a, it could be delayed or in a totally different form and that is a test for us as believers.  [Sound effects 🪄] 3) Do your best and make your parents proud of you [Fatin] Four years' journey in Cairo is not an easy journey because I’m not with (my family. As I mentioned, I’m very close with my family. So when I study abroad, I learned a lot about being an independent girl and daughter. Because I’m the one who wants to study here so I need to make my parents proud. And I came here of course not from my money but my parents’ money so I need to do my very best. [Sound effects 🔘] [Syazana] It’s been a year since Fatin graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah Law or Islamic Jurisprudence. After working as an Islamic educator in Muslim organizations and as an Arabic language tutor, she is now working in the Islamic Finance industry with a leading Islamic Financial Planning agency in Singapore. [Azimah] Let’s also ask her mom, Aini, and her dad, Azan:  [Sound effects ✅] How did you feel when you attended your daughter’s graduation ceremony in Egypt? [Sound effects 🪄] [Aini] Proud and happy that she has ended her journey here to fulfill her dreams. [Sound effects 🎉] [Azan] Alhamdulillah! All praise to Allah SWT. It’s been four (4) years, not easy for kakak (older sister) Fatin, not easy for us as her parents. Alhamdulillah, Allah SWT helped us. We’re so proud!  [Sound effects 🎉] This is a big achievement especially in the Haji Repin family. So may Allah SWT make it easy for her and make it easy for everybody; Azimah, Azfar, and Muhammad Amirul and all of us. Please take education as the first priority in our life. Inshaa Allah, everybody will succeed in whatever they do, not only in their studies but in every single angle that they take up in their life. Ameen ya rabbal ‘alamin (Lord of the worlds). [Sound effects ✅] [Syazana] Any special advice for all the dads out there? [Azan] Most important beside giving moral support, du’a, du’a, du’a. Nabi (Prophet) Muhammad SAW, everything that he wants to do, he will start with du’a, in the midst he will du’a, at the end also he will du’a. So, we make du’a because we can plan but the Masterplan always comes from Allah SWT. Although all things have been written, Allah SWT can change the Masterplan by two (2) things: with our du’a and sadaqah jariyah (charity). Inshaa Allah (if God wills), if we follow this as what has been taught by Rasulullah SAW, whatever we plan, Inshaa Allah, Allah SWT will fulfill for us (Qabul). [Sound effects 🔘] [Syazana] We make du’a that Allah SWT will grant His blessings and guidance for Fatin and everyone listening to achieve success in this dunya or world and in the akhirah, the hereafter. Ameen! [Sound effects 👏🏼]  Till we meet again in the next episode…bye! [Outro] We’ve now come to the end of the show today.
