    Life after losing my mother to gun violence.

    Chris Singleton is a former professional baseball player in the Chicago Cubs organization as well as an inspirational speaker who has been featured on ESPN’s E:60, Sports Illustrated magazine, and USA Today. His mother, Sharonda Coleman Singleton, was murdered along with eight other victims at Mother Emanuel AME church in Downtown Charleston, South Carolina on June 17th 2015 by a racist white supremacist. Chris inspired his city and the nation by him forgiving the man who murdered his mother and stating that “Love is stronger than hate.” Chris inspires his audiences to forgive, overcome adversity, and life the life they were destined for.

    Dr. Karisse A Callender is an Assistant Professor, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC). As a clinician, Dr. Callender has worked with adolescents, adults, and families in outpatient and residential dual-diagnosis settings, and provided crisis counseling to individuals who experienced sexual violence.  She has specialized training in the assessment and treatment of trauma and substance use disorders and the use of cognitive and behavioral interventions. He is an alumnus of The university of the Southern Caribbean, there he was able culminate his course of study with an awarded Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.     Surviving a Long Distance Relationship

    Caleb and Laurel met on the campus of the University of the Southern Caribbean at the ages of 18 and 16. Since then, they’ve made the decision to be in a committed relationship and have been for 12 years; 10 years of long distance dating and 2 years of marriage. Caleb and Laurel are pursuing careers as a social worker and speech-pathologist respectively and currently reside in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.
