"Assam & Darjeeling" is the story of two children who set out to rescue their dead mother from the Underworld -- a nightmare place where the mythological desperately tries to keep pace with the world above. The children encounter cell-phone carrying demons, forgotten deities from defunct pantheons waiting tables, and one nasty character called Juniper who takes a particular, personal interest in their quest. A terrific story full of references to mythology, folklore, Dante's 'Inferno', and classic fairy tales, "Assam & Darjeeling" follows in the tradition of writers like Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and Philip Pullman.

Woke me up

I had forgotten what it was to crave. Start listening and remember, too. Positively delicious book and podcast.

Listen to this story!!!!!!

After listening to more podcasts than I can remember, this is one of the MOST memorable!! I just finished a 4 day marathon of this story and I am sorry that the epic journey is over. Not only does the author/reader (excellent voice) bring forth elements that remind me of Straub and King's The Talisman, and echoes of Gaiman's American Gods, he also makes the endings of the podcasts interesting and funny with its warnings of the dire consequences of disseminating the podcast without his written permission. I am going to download The Gospel of Thomas now and hope that it is half as good as A & D!! Thank you, Mr. Camp!

Impressive!

This is by far one of the books I've listened to. Everything... the writer's style, the manner in which he performs, the plot... kept me hooked.
