    Jen is an athletic trainer in the secondary setting while also having numerous responsibilities in the health system she is employed by. In addition to those roles, Jen is also the committee chair of the NATA LGBTQ+ Committee. Inclusivity has been a part of Jen’s daily life for a long time as she works in one of the most diverse schools in Boston and she has had to learn to find ways to make sure to include everyone and make sure they are getting the equitable care they deserve.In this episode, we talk about inclusivity, what it means and how it applies not only to the athletic training profession but to healthcare in general. Jen shares a lot of great ideas about what we can do to be more inclusive. We also talk about leadership and what that means and how inclusivity is a huge part of it.     Eli Kassab is an athletic trainer that currently works in the sport setting but has done a little bit of everything, including spending some significant time in high level football. Through all of this, Eli found himself getting burned out from the constant go of the profession. This led Eli to find some new opportunities to break the cycle of burnout and see what else might be next in his career.In this episode we talk about burnout and how an athletic trainer might be able to handle it if they find themselves moving that direction. Eli has some very unique insight into options that ATCs can find to help with a case of burnout.     Roland Schmidt is an athletic training that works in the secondary setting but beyond that he has taken a focus on care of the athlete that also has diabetes. Roland shares his personal story of how diabetes has impacted his life and the effects it can have on people. We also discuss many topics around diabetes with a primary focus on why it can be so difficult for athletes with diabetes to thrive at their desired activity.Roland shares a ton of great information on what athletic trainers can do and what they should know if they do work with an athlete with diabetes. There are many impactful things that the AT profession can do to help that person along their way in managing blood sugars, being prepared in case of emergency and just being another resource in that persons life.     Dr. Becca Stearns works at the Korey Stringer Institute and heads up the TUFSS program (Team Up for Sports Safety) and does work all across the country to engage stakeholders to focus on sports safety. In this episode we talk about what the TUFSS project is and how it got started. We discuss what they do in their advocacy work and how many states they have been to so far and look forward to getting to in the future.We also discuss that the timing of their upcoming/recent trip to California and working with huge supporters to help get the word out that there can be safe sports with meaningful changes in policy and procedure. We also discuss how the timing lines up with California’s push for licensure and getting key stakeholders to support ATs in their pursuit of requiring a license.
