Hi, I’m Karen, and this podcast is built on the stories, spirit, and legacy of my brother, Joel Moss.In September of last year, Joel died suddenly. His loss shook our family to the core—and it rippled through the music community of Saratoga Springs, NY, the place he called home for the last twenty years. But Joel’s story doesn’t begin there. It begins in Detroit, Michigan, where he grew up as the middle child of Harmon and Dorothy Moss. From Detroit, life carried him to Minneapolis, where he attended the University of Minnesota—yes, he was a proud Golden Gopher. And then, around 1969, he packed everything he owned into a VW Bug and drove to California to begin the life he was meant for: a life in music. They say, “the rest is history,” but in Joel’s case, the history is rich, layered, and filled with stories from family, friends, and colleagues who watched him build a remarkable career—one he nurtured right up to the very end.Today, I’m joined by two local musicians from the Capital District who knew Joel well: Johnathan and Annie Rosen. They may not remember this, but I first met them more than fifteen years ago at one of my favorite spots—Uncommon Grounds. I was having breakfast when Joel invited them to join us, and that moment became my first real glimpse into the work he was doing at Caffè Lena.So today, I’ve invited them to share their Joel stories—how they met him, what they created together, and how they continue to keep the music alive.https://annieandthehedonists.com/If you are looking for a Personal Coach contact Karen at #YESICAN coaching with Karenkh.yesican1@gmail.com440 526 1530

She spent her formative years in Taiwan, where, as an Indian girl growing up in a Chinese culture, she did everything she could to fit in. She learned the language, embraced the customs, and tried wholeheartedly to belong. Yet despite completing her entire primary education there, she never fully felt rooted in any one identity or homeland. She later moved to Australia for university, fully aware that her time there would be temporary. Coming from a traditional family where education was valued but marriage was expected soon after, she chose to study physiotherapy—a practical path that offered independence, mobility, and the flexibility to support the life she was being prepared for.At 22, she married and moved to Ghana, where she became a mother to two beautiful children. Though deeply grateful, she felt a quiet inner question rising: Is this all there is? She longed not to escape her life, but to expand it—to find meaning, expression, and contribution beyond the roles she was fulfilling.Drawing on her healthcare background, her love of learning, and her fluency in English, Hindi, and Mandarin, Vanita started her own business in Ghana. The experience was exhilarating, overwhelming, and profoundly humbling. Over time, she discovered that her greatest joy didn’t come from running the business itself—it came from empowering the people around her. She gradually stepped back, allowing her team to grow in confidence and eventually run the entire operation independently. Watching them thrive became one of her proudest achievements. After five years of navigating the unpredictable realities of entrepreneurship, she made the difficult decision to close the business due to market volatility and limited resources. The loss was painful, but it brought clarity. She realized that empowering others had always been the thread running through her life—whether supporting classmates, caring for patients, or mentoring her employees.Spirituality had grounded her through every transition, and now her experiences began to converge. She understood the body through physiotherapy. She had explored the depths of her spiritual life. And she found herself increasingly curious about the mind. She began observing her thoughts, questioning her internal narratives, and exploring deeper possibilities:What if people felt supported to choose differently? What if they stopped punishing themselves when things didn’t go as planned? What if we all believed we had agency, even in uncertainty? This curiosity led her to life coaching.Today, Vanita helps people slow down, gain clarity, and rebuild trust in themselves. She supports them in making aligned choices—especially when life looks nothing like they imagined it would. At the heart of her work is a simple, grounding reminder:You are not behind. You are not broken. You are not failing. You are human. And you are evolving.https://www.broadenmindz.com/https://www.instagram.com/broadenmindzhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/vanita-prisha-daryanani-765060329/If you are looking for a Personal Coach contact Karen at #YESICAN coaching with Karenkh.yesican1@gmail.com440 526 1530

Bronstein—an attorney, CPA, life coach, and author. But what makes his story compelling isn’t his résumé. It’s the transformation he chose to make in his own life, and the way he now shares that journey freely with others.Stanley’s work isn’t about selling books or signing clients. In fact, he believes many people can follow his approach independently if they choose to commit to it. His story centers on his significant weight loss and the lifestyle changes that made it possible. His path wasn’t easy; he faced setbacks and challenges, just as anyone does. But once he took ownership of his health and future, everything shifted. What he changed, he changed for himself—not for his wife, not for his doctors, not for external approval. He rebuilt his life through a sustainable, long-term approach to living well.I encourage you to listen, absorb, and decide what resonates for you.You can explore his work at The Way of Excellence:https://thewayofexcellence.com/The site is free, and the videos are family-friendly. You can also download his guidebooks at no cost and learn more about his framework for healthy living.Stanley’s wisdom extends far beyond weight loss. His principles focus on becoming the best version of yourself. His guidebooks—Way of Excellence Journal, The Way of You, The Way of Us, and The Way of AI—offer structured, practical tools for personal change. These aren’t quick fixes or feel-good slogans; they’re actionable steps designed to help people reshape how they live.If you’re curious to learn more about Stanley himself:https://stanleybronstein.com/Are you ready to explore what’s possible for you?If you are looking for a Personal Coach contact Karen at #YESICAN coaching with Karenkh.yesican1@gmail.com440 526 1530

Our abilities are not uniform, and the person we assume is “less able” may, in fact, be navigating the world with a strength, skill, and capability far beyond what we can see.Jenna Udenberg, a lifelong Northshore Minnesotan and former music educator of 19 years, has used a manual wheelchair since age eight due to Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. She is a 2017 Blandin Foundation Community Leader and a 2020 Bush Fellow. Through her Lake County Press column, Local View from 4 Foot 2, she invites readers into vulnerability, perspective, and the lived experience of moving through the world from a seated vantage point. When she’s not writing, Jenna is outdoors on paved trails, fishing with friends, playing board and card games, or coaching the Robo Dweebs LEGO robotics team. This conversation widened my understanding in ways I didn’t expect. Jenna reminds us that empathy, awareness, and acceptance aren’t abstract ideals—they’re daily practices. And perhaps the real shift comes when we stop assuming who is “different” and start recognizing that the difference might be us.https://www.aboveandbeyondwithu.org/https://www.instagram.com/aboveandbeyondwithu/If you are looking for a Personal Coach contact Karen at #YESICAN coaching with Karenkh.yesican1@gmail.com440 526 1530
