    In this episode, I'm talking about how games are designed to fulfill our needs and keep us glued to the screen. Developers learned to hack the needs of the brain, making gaming rewarding and compelling. But even though it's not our fault, that games are so fulfilling and easily available, it's our responsibility to make a deliberate choice whether what we get from games is valuable enough for us to continue to play.     In the 6th episode, I'm talking about why relapse is not necessarily a bad thing if we treat it the right way. It's something we want to avoid and we spend quite a lot of our energy on preventing it from happening. And it sounds counterintuitive to say that relapse is a good thing when it’s basically the opposite of quitting gaming, but it’s not as dangerous as it seems if we really pay attention to the lessons it teaches us and if we get better at noticing the pattern we usually follow that ends up with us giving in to our cravings.     Ep 4: How to Stick To a Gaming Fast

    In the 4th episode, I share the ideas on how to make it easier to stick to your gaming fast once you’ve decided to take control over your gaming habit. The 2 main ideas are to make gaming difficult and invisible. By difficult, I mean increase the distance between you and the games so that it’s not as easily accessible as before.     Ep 3: The Best Way to Quit Gaming

    In the third episode, I’m talking about 2 ways of quitting gaming - cold turkey and gaming fast. Quitting cold turkey is a much better option than limiting your gaming hours, but it might feel overwhelming. Going on a gaming fast is in my opinion the best option - it has all the advantages of quitting cold turkey plus it's more attainable because it has clear begging and end. Simply limiting your gaming hours doesn’t allow you to restore your dopamine baseline and therefore prevents you from enjoying simple pleasures in life; besides it robs you of creative and motivational energy.     In the first episode, I want to invite you to think about why you continue to play video games, despite the intellectual understanding that it doesn't benefit you.  · You continue gaming because you associate pain with quitting and pleasure with continuing to play. · Games are designed to be compelling, and it’s not your fault the things are this way. But it’s your responsibility to make the choices that are aligned with your long-term vision for life. · The mind is a bad decision-maker at the moment.
