“Thunder, thunder, thunder…Thundercats! Ho!!”  Tom and Julee unearth some wonderful childhood treasures -- Thundercats, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears.  They also talk about the bittersweet memories of growing up and out of play:  “putting the toys down” for the last time. Though, as the episode goes on, you’ll notice that the spirit of play never quite left and lives on as they go through the Basement!

Now in their forties, Julee and Tom Antonellis are reconnecting as brother and sister in THE MOST distant a socially-distant podcast can be in the United States.  While recording on each coast (and seeing each other over FaceTime) all the way from Los Angeles (Tom) to Boston (Julee), they start unearthing the core lessons, laughs and connections of their childhood.  Plus, Julee has to fight her fear of cobwebs while Tom enjoys the comfort of his office -- yet he CAN'T touch his beloved toys like she can.

Back Through The Basement Episode 47 (Special Edition) - Manifest and Mirrors (feat. Joan Baker with Tom and Julee Antonellis)

As they go 'Back Through The Basement' this week, Tom and Julee Antonellis welcome as a Playdate, for a Special-Edition-length episode, inspiring guru, voiceover artist and coach -- VP of Society Of Voice Arts And Sciences -- Joan Baker!  And wow does Joan deliver!  She paints the picture of young Joan, looking into her childhood mirror and declaring "I've gotta be where the action is!" which we quickly learn is at the root of Joan's approach to a self-expressed life.  She shares some of her own collections (who knew the deep history of shell boxes!!) then turns her attention to helping Tom and Julee decide the fate of unearthed toys from their childhood in the Basement.  Join the fun as all three, in Joan's words, "discover, discard, entertain, comprehend, talk loud, learn, have fun, laugh and -- yes -- even cry."  (Tom did; Julee and Joan comforted.)

A must listen!

“Back Through the Basement” has been a life saver during this pandemic! Not only do Julee and Tom absolutely crack me up, but if you have siblings, you can completely relate to this podcast. Speaking of podcasts, I may be one of the only people in the world who don’t listen to a ton of ‘casts, but there’s something about “Back Through the Basement” that keeps me coming back. Bravo!

Delightful! Everyone can relate...

This is a delightful podcast to which everyone can relate... the joys, pains and emotional turmoil that "going through your old toys" can be... We all stay kids, ranked and filed in sibling order, and it's fun to listen to Tom and Julee's banter or yesteryear. Fun podcast!
