The Best for Booklovers
Cara has, hands down, the most melodious and measured broadcasting voice: I can hear and understand her and have time to really think about her thoughtful, meticulously expressed observations about whatever book is under discussion. Her analysis is well-reasoned, balanced and supported by specific references or examples. Cara does not mince words. If she has a problem with a book, she honestly states her concerns without ever deviating from civility. Covering a wide variety of genres, current as well as historical writers, Cara demonstrates a true love of reading all kinds of literature. If you only want one book podcast, this is the one!
Good job
I used this to write a paper and it really helped, thank you.
Long time listener; first time reviewer ;-)
After laughing my way through the episode about “Three Men in a Boat”, I committed to write my first podcast review (ever). I’m not a big sci-fi fantasy reader, but did somehow end up in a local library’s sci-fi book club and have enjoyed the crossover between what I’ve been reading for book club and the books in this podcast. I enjoy the podcaster’s sense of humor (wry commentary? polite snarkiness?) and the quality of the book summaries — good enough to convince me in advance whether the book reviewed is one I would enjoy reading or not. Overall a great 15-20 minute relaxing break from the stress of commuting!
