    Black Enough for TV?

    Black Enough for TV?

After he tweeted about Bertrand Cooper's viral Current Affairs article "Who Actually Gets to Create Black Pop Culture?," we invited Very Smart Brothers co-founder Damon Young to dialogue with Cooper about his piece. The two pop culture commentators debate whether it's a problem that so few poor Black Americans are able to create art about poor Black folk -- even though that version of "the Black experience" is increasingly marketable as an avenue for White catharsis in the age of Black Lives Matter.

Brie flew to Cleveland to report on how locals in Ohio's 11th district are feeling about the congressional race between Senator Nina Turner and Shontel Brown. Bill Cosby Elegy (w/ Glenn Loury)

Bill Cosby Elegy (w/ Glenn Loury)

This week, Brie debates one of America's foremost Black conservative public intellectuals, Brown University Economics Professor Glenn Loury. Is there overlap between conservative critics of liberal race politics lefty critics of liberal "woke" culture? Or does the conservative focus on fixing "Black culture" serve the same function as the liberal focus on "curing racism" to the exclusion of material interventions? It's a difficult but productive conversation.

PMC Narcissist

Her target audience is the PMC. I used to listen, but now I absolutely hate earnest arrogant narcissistic PMC special flowers like Brie, Krystal Ball, Ryan Grim, etc. Brie thinks it’s cute to tell the world that she eats TJs frozen chicken something, but I bet someone like me shops and delivers it to her… I’ve come to hate everything that the PMC value, from cutesy chat, their cultural references, their clothing (or I should say lack of it for women- why did my gen work so hard for yours to dress like h*** so that you can weaponize sexual discrimination claims? I sooo hate you all- yeah Krystal?) Whatever, I’m moving on to more authentic leftist podcasters who aren’t fooled by politicians like Nina Turner, as somehow different from the rest of the despicable fraud squad. Oh- who even cares if that worthless Virgil is gone, he’s just another PMC narcissist that contributes nothing but toxic fumes to the podcast.
