Our guest Jonah lays out a pretty compelling background to the cult ties and connections with white supremacy and right-wing ideology of the attackers, suggesting they did not act as a "lone wolf" as so often reported, instead highlighting the potential role of organized white supremacy or the police. One simple thing is clear: Right-wing violence is ignored, while even tangentially left-wing violence is hyper focused upon, giving the veneer of parity between such attacks or to give the appearance of a left-wing siege—either way it's time to stop being epic online about these events and get serious. We share some of our own personal experience of austerity and right-wing propaganda pushed in the classroom, and also the destruction of the natural environment related to the topics glossed over in one of the PragerU courses mentioned in the show which were assigned to students in an Ohio high school. This episode broaches some issues with COVID's gendered impact and affect on home life, the ceding of criticism by the liberal opposition of lock-down policy helping to strengthen right-wing populism as they capitalize on real suffering people are enduring, hurricane fascism, and some thoughts on popular media—including the latest insertion of anti-communist hysteria in the second season of Umbrella Academy.
