INTRODUCING: So You Wanna Be President? with Chris Matthews

Lesson one: win Iowa. An astounding number of Democrats and Republicans won their party's nomination after winning first in the Iowa caucuses—but America's first battleground hasn't always been a priority for campaigns. Jimmy Carter was the first to realize that a win there could propel a candidate into the national spotlight.

Chris Matthews examines Carter's approach to the 1972 campaign with Gerry Rafshoon, who handled political advertising for the candidate, and veteran journalist Judy Woodruff, who covered the campaign in her early years with NBC.

Fascinating addition to Watergate scandal

Listening to this other scandal that was occurring at the same time as Watergate is riveting. The backstory, interviews and research that went into this podcast was superb.
Between Rachel’s books, show and this podcast she is my favorite explainer.

Amazing. Gives Me Hope

It took we a while to get to listening to Bagman. It’s a year later and the house has just impeached Trump. I’m hoping that there are wonderful patriots in the judiciary and other parts of our government who help clean out and up the mess of the likes of Trump, McConnell, Graham, etc. I thank those who were highlighted in your series Rachel. We need more people like them. Looking forward to more podcasts that explain so folks like me can understand what has happened and what may be happening. Brava!!
