Getting balanced along the way

I’ve been listening to Balanced Black Girl for about 4 months now and I thoroughly enjoy it! I enjoy the various guests and tend to take away something important from the interviews. What made me decide to write today was the Shan Boodram interview. This came right on time as this was a topic I’m working on currently. Thank you for being vulnerable during the conversation as this made the vibe even richer. Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s important work.

I thought the episode was pretty good however the truth is there are different black identities or ethnicities. We are not all the same and I don't see how claiming your specific black ethnicity hurts you. Other groups do it all the time. Why do we have all be just black, when the truth is we all have different ethnic backgrounds. In a broader sense, I get your argument but I disagree with the idea that we can't define specific black ethnicity. You will probably say you didn't say that we couldn't do that but I am just stating my opinion on what I got out of that portion of the podcast.
