Unbelievably helpful
This podcast has helped me in innumerable ways, reshaping my views on music and mainly music education.
James Sepulvado and Greg Hanson discuss in depth questions I had always been asking myself yet never found answers for, and are both witty and entertaining along the journey. If you are looking to give your students a bountiful musical experience the way music was intended to be, or if you are a musician looking for a next level discussion on topics that will benefit you immensely, I highly suggest you listen to this podcast.
One section of particular note I found to be helpful was the Arnold Jacob’s discussion on music and competition. Learning that the end goal should be the focus has lead to an entire rework in my pedagogical standards and strategies for music education. Focus on music for the instrument and musicality, beautiful sound and the “why” of music has also changed how I view my own practices and lead to many breakthroughs for me.
I simply can’t suggest this podcast enough for those of you who wish to expand your thinking past the commonly accepted “mainstream”. If you go into it with an open mind, I guarantee that you will take something valuable away from this podcast.
