Rays (S29) Game 165, ALDS Game 3- at New York Yankees (10/07/26)

Tampa Bay (98-63, .609, 1st AL East, 1st AL, 3rd MLB) went 7-6 against New York in the regular season and is 2-0 in this year’s American League Division Series, with both wins coming against their East division rival! New York (93-68, .578, 1st AL East, 2nd AL, 5th MLB) is now 2-7 at Tropicana Field this year against Tampa Bay, regular season and postseason, combined. At Yankee Stadium, they are 4-2. Max Fried (LHP, 5-5, 2.80 ERA) starts for the Yankees (2-2, 2026 postseason) while Nick Martinez (RHP, 15-6, 3.10 ERA) will take the mound for the Rays (1-0, 2026 postseason). The White Sox and Guardians could be done with their series as well after tonight, since Chicago is up 2 games to none. The Braves and Dodgers knew they were playing today and it’s the “Tyler” game! LA has ex-Rays righty Tyler Glasnow (5-2, 3.53 ERA) scheduled against Braves right-hander Tyler Mahle (7-10, 3.99 ERA) in a “win or stay home” game four for the Braves and a “win and move on” game four for the Dodgers. San Diego extended the other NLDS match-up with a win over Milwaukee in Game Three Tuesday night. Walker Buehler (RHP, 9-6, 4.63 ERA), a two-time World Series champion, is set to take the mound for the Padres, but the Brewers coaching staff needs to confer this morning to decide between Robert Gasser, Chad Patrick, or Shane Drohan, according to Manager Pat Murphy. First pitch in game three of the postseason, game three of the ALDS, and game 165 of the 2026 season for the Rays is at 8:00 PM EDT in the Bronx, NY at Yankee Stadium on October 7th, 2026.

    Rays (S29) Off Day #31 (10/06/26)

Tampa Bay (98-64, .605, 1st AL East, 1st AL, 3rd MLB) beat New York again at the Trop with an error-filled performance by the Yankees that ruined a two home run night by Ben Rice. The Rays played clean “Rays brand” baseball and beat the probable Cy Young Award winner, Cam Schlittler. Bryan Baker once again got the save for Tampa Bay and Cam Booser earned the win after a one out relief appearance. The Rays take on New York (93-68, .578, 1st AL East, 2nd AL, 5th MLB) tomorrow in Game Three at 8 PM. Chicago took a 2-0 lead in the ALDS with Cleveland and will go for a sweep on Wednesday, as will Tampa Bay in the Bronx. The Dodgers and Braves play at 6 PM in Atlanta today, tied at one win each in their NLDS match-up, while the Brewers and Padres will play at 9:30 PM with Milwaukee going for the sweep in San Diego. Today is the 31st time this season the Rays will be off since the season opener and the third time it has been on a Tuesday (July 14th for the All-Star Game in Philadelphia and September 29th, the first day after the regular season ended). Tampa Bay has had one Sunday off (this week), eight Mondays off, two Wednesdays (July 15th which was the day following the All-Star Game, and October 1st), fifteen days off on a Thursday, and two Fridays (the very first, on March 27th, and October 2nd). Last year, between games one and 162, the Rays had 23 days off, which included the ones that come as part of the All-Star Game break. This season, there were 24 scheduled days off, which did not include rain delays or postponements or days off between the regular season and postseason or between postseason games. The Rays won the A.L. East title and earned the best record in the American League in 2026.
