Bates Investigates

Season One: The most in-depth serialized look into the case of the State of Oklahoma vs. Daniel Holtzclaw, as told from the perspective of the prosecution, but with the scrutiny of the defense. On his 29th birthday, Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple women he came into contact with while on patrol. But the story doesn't end there. 36 alleged crimes, 13 alleged victims and 17 alleged crime scenes. Not a single piece of direct forensic evidence and not a single independent witness. Was Holtzclaw's 263 year prison sentence "Justice Served" or "Justice Denied"?
My theory

I’ve listened to several of these podcasts, and I’m almost under the impression that it was a joint effort. The short black cop that they talk about that raped one of the females, I’m thinking was involved in the drug trade in the neighborhood and Holtzclaw is getting too close to uncovering where the drugs were flowing from, and maybe who benefited from it and I believe he was set up. If he would’ve uncovered the truth, maybe other officers would’ve went down. I think there’s deep rooted corruption in the police force. He didn’t fit in because he was a good cop. I think that whole police force needs to be investigated.
Dear Narrator…

As you spoke about the ‘no snitching’ code amongst the area’s (mostly black) residents, you stated: “In my experience, it’s really not so much of a moral code, as it is an underlying threat (i.e. ‘snitches get stitches’).” …..🤔 Uhhhh… sure… Not like black people could POSSIBLY have any INTEGRITY or make decisions based on their morals… right?!? 🙄😣 I mean, YOU of all people would know… based on your “experience” with… what, exactly? Reading black people’s minds?? 😒 What an ignorant, COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE assertion to make. But hey, at least you made it clear from the get-go how you feel about the community you’re referring to there. P.S. I agree with your stance on this case being a wrongful conviction, which is always a terrible tragedy no matter if the defendant is black, white, green, or purple. My comment above was just food for thought but I’m still giving you 5 stars because its so important that more people come to understand how wrongful convictions happen. Maybe this story will resonate with the demographic of folks (blue live matter people, etc) who normally refuse to believe the VAST INjustices of the “Justice” System that affect SOOO many impoverished black families who lose their fathers/brothers/uncles, etc. to prison alllll too often over this crap (reverse-engineered investigations, etc). The only anomalous part of this story is that the defendant was a cop. Other than that— Welcome to normal life for black folks in America.
I love this
