As a self-proclaimed Batman enthusiast, I can't help but hold a special place in my heart for Batman '66. That said, it was pure camp. It was for kids, as there weren't too many adults indulging in comics at that time, and the production value wasn't necessarily at the forefront of the producer's minds. There was tons of star power behind it, and it was just a good time. I think that's what Ben, Holly, and the other guests bring to this. A sense of fun about the ridiculousness of it all. I like that they are just friends sitting around talking about how silly the penguin's umbrella weapons are, the massive growth of Adam West's package from episode to episode, or what dumb thing Robin did this week. They've said things I've thought as I've watched. I mean, it's not like they're talking about Citizen Kane over here. It's Batman '66, for Aunt Harriet's sake! Cesar Romero refused to shave off his mustache! They just put white makeup over it! How can anyone take that seriously? So to the hater, I say, lighten up. Adam West even says everyone was in on the joke. It is possible to have a love of the source material and also poke fun at it. With all that said, you can bet I will most definitely continue to listen. Same bat time! Same bat channel!
