Episode 41; Be your OWN Responder

Welcome back to the Bearded Monkey Podcast—where discipline, responsibility, and real-world preparedness come before politics, noise, and nonsense. In this episode we break down a developing story out of Austin, Texas, an active shooter incident that once again forces a hard conversation about violence, terrorism, response time, and what ordinary citizens can realistically do when seconds matter and help is minutes away. Instead of emotional reactions or social media outrage, we’re digging into the facts. We read directly from an article published on Police1.com, analyzing the law enforcement response and the lessons that responsible gun owners and prepared citizens should be paying attention to. Because incidents like this aren't just headlines—they're case studies in survival. I also play and opine on an important clip from Joe Kent, Director of the United States National Counterterrorism Center, who discusses the growing realities of domestic threats and the evolving landscape of violence inside the United States. His perspective adds a bigger picture to the conversation that every prepared citizen should understand. But this episode isn’t about fear. It’s about preparedness, mindset, and discipline. Because the truth is simple:When violence happens, the people who survive are usually the ones who prepared before the moment arrived. For listeners here in Colorado, this episode hits especially close to home. Our state has experienced its share of high-profile attacks, and responsible citizens across Denver, Aurora, Colorado Springs, and the entire Front Range are realizing that training matters. Owning a firearm is one thing. Knowing how to use it responsibly and effectively under stress is something completely different. If you're thinking about taking the next step toward protecting yourself and your family, I offer Colorado Concealed Carry classes as well as Defensive Shooting Fundamentals courses designed for real-world situations, not range fantasy drills. You can find upcoming classes, training opportunities, and more at: www.BeardedMonkeyTactical.com Whether you’re brand new to firearms or someone looking to sharpen your defensive mindset, my goal is simple: help ordinary people become more capable, confident, and disciplined. Because at the end of the day, preparedness isn’t about ego. It’s about responsibility. And around here we live by one rule: “Discipline is violence against the version of you that quits.” This is the Bearded Monkey Podcast. Let’s get into it.

    Ep 39; Russ Cleveland

On today’s episode of the Bearded Monkey Podcast, I sat down with Russ Cleveland, a candidate running for a Montana House seat, for a real, respectful, and necessary conversation about leadership, public service, and the direction of Montana. This episode isn’t about sound bites or political theater—it’s about dialogue, accountability, and what it means to serve the people you represent. We talk about Montana values, local governance, personal responsibility, and the importance of civil discourse across the aisle—especially in a time when politics feels more divided than ever. You don’t have to agree on everything to have an honest conversation, and this episode proves that strong beliefs and respectful dialogue can exist at the same time. The Bearded Monkey Podcast is committed to long-form conversations that challenge assumptions, encourage critical thinking, and promote productive discussion between differing viewpoints. 3. For Charlie; A tribute to Charlie Kirk

For Charlie; A tribute to Charlie Kirk

On Ep. 38 of THE BEARDED MONKEY PODCAST, I host a solo episode and break down some of what is known at this point regarding the assassination of CHARLIE KIRK. A Tribute to Charlie Kirk On September 10th, our country lost Charlie Kirk—a voice who, in just 31 years, left an impact far larger than his age might suggest. His death was sudden, violent, and heartbreaking. But even in grief, there’s a greater truth: Charlie’s life was proof of what conviction, courage, and relentless energy can achieve. From a young age, Charlie believed that ideas matter, and that young people could lead—not someday in the distant future, but now. He founded Turning Point USA while still a teenager, building it from nothing into one of the most influential youth organizations in America. He went from speaking in small classrooms to filling stadiums. He became a household name, not because he was handed power, but because he worked tirelessly to make his voice heard. Charlie wasn’t afraid of controversy, criticism, or standing alone. Whether people agreed with him or not, he represented something rare in our time: someone who truly lived by his convictions, and who poured his short years into building a platform that inspired thousands of others to step up, speak out, and believe their voice mattered. His loss is a reminder of life’s fragility, but it is also a reminder of what’s possible. Charlie showed that even at a young age, you can shake the world if you’re willing to take risks, to speak boldly, and to lead with purpose. If there’s a way forward through this sorrow, it’s to carry that lesson with us. To understand that none of us are promised tomorrow, and the only way to honor his life is to live ours with the same urgency—to pursue what matters, to fight for what we believe, and to inspire others along the way. Charlie Kirk’s story doesn’t end in tragedy. It continues in every person he influenced, in every debate he sparked, in every young leader he inspired to step forward. His legacy is not just in what he built, but in the hope that others will build, too. May we remember him not only with grief, but with gratitude—for showing us that even in a short time, a life lived boldly can echo for generations. Tune in. God Bless. #welcometothefamily beardedmonkeytactical.com @beardedmonkeytactical on Instagram
