    On December 19, 1777, General George Washington and the Continental Army marched out of my beloved Rebel Hill and Gulph Mills, down Gulph Road, past the Hanging Rock, and on to Valley Forge.     On Day 6 of the six days that Gen. George Washington and the Continental Army spent on Rebel Hill, Gen. Washington and the Continental Army celebrate the new nation’s first Thanksgiving on Rebel Hill and Gulph Mills.  And, Washington describes in great and precise detail, in his General Orders to the troops, the instructions for building and situating the huts when they arrive at Valley Forge the next day.

    On Day 5 of the six days that Gen. George Washington and the Continental Army spent on Rebel Hill, Gen. Washington issues very inspirational General Orders announcing the decision to establish winter quarters at Valley Forge. He also announces that the Army will spend the new nation’s first Thanksgiving the next day on Rebel Hill in services as ordered by the Continental Congress.  Both Washington’s General Orders and the Continental Congress’ Thanksgiving Proclamation are included in this podcast in full because they are both inspiration and stirring.
