    Welcome back! This week I'm talking about the debate between whether it's better to air dry your curls or use a hairdryer with a diffuser. I wanted to dive a bit deeper into the science and data to see if there is truly any significant difference between the two.  I'm also covering how some damage occurs and safe practices when using heat.     19. The History of Black Hair with Tracey Overbey (Part 1)

    This week I dive into the History of Black Hair with Tracey Overbey. Tracey has been a client of mine for the last few years and I always enjoy our conversations. As someone with a wealth of information as a librarian, Tracey is sharing her research surrounding Black Hair - the misconceptions, meanings, traditions and more.  Tracy is an Assistant Professor and Social Sciences Academic Librarian at The Ohio State University Libraries. Her main areas of research are in Social Justice issues particularly around Food Deserts in urban areas, exploring Black students’ relationships with libraries and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education for underrepresented and marginalized communities. Tracey also has a book she co-wrote with Dr. Amanda Folk called Narratives of (Dis)Engagement: Exploring Black and African American Students’ Experiences in Libraries. She also recently lead and spoke at a natural hair event in Cleveland, Ohio and is passionate about ancient African history.  We will be coming back for a Part 2 to this episode as there is so much to discuss and share!     18. Things to Consider Before a New Haircut

    In this episode, I'm going to talk about the many things you should consider when thinking about trying a new hair cut.  Do you go for a big change or something small? And how do you know which route you’re ready for? What are you expecting from your new look? How easily do you adapt to change? There are lots of factors to consider when thinking about a new look.
