    Facts and Fiction: The COVID-19 Vaccination with Dr. Chuck Burnell

    Welcome to Behind The Patch, where we present news, stories and information of importance to the medics of Acadian Ambulance Service, as well as EMS professionals across the nation. Dr. Charles "Chuck" Burnell joins us in a special episode on the COVID-19 vaccine. In this episode, Dr. Burnell separates the facts, rumors and misinformation of the vaccine's safety and efficacy. He explains how the vaccine works and why it is critically important for all eligible citizens to become immunized. Dr. Burnell is the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Acadian Companies. In his words, "I spend a majority of my time making sure our front line medics have the most up to date patient care protocols and are well supported to ensure the quality of our medical care is maintained at a high level." Having previously served 13 years as the Emergency Department Medical Director for Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Dr. Burnell is an expert in his field.     Guest: Justin Back

    Welcome to the first episode of “Behind the Patch,” where we present news, stories and information of importance to the medics of Acadian Ambulance Service, as well as EMS professionals across the nation. To kick off our season, Justin Back, President of Acadian Ambulance Service, brings us up to date on the company. Back joined Acadian as a vice president in 2013 and has held leadership roles in several areas including fleet maintenance, regional operations and integrations. Justin is serving as the fourth president of Acadian Ambulance, following in the footsteps of Roland Dugas, David Pierce and Jerry Romero. A native of Perth, Australia, Justin is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Australia and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Cross University and a Master of Business Administration from the Louisiana State University. He is a nationally-accredited Emergency Medical Technician and a graduate of the National EMS Academy.
