Why Your Results Don't Match Your Effort | Ep. 48

Most people aren't under-trying on purpose. They genuinely believe the effort is there. But tracking 70% of your food, cooking oils that "don't count," and two years with the same 20-pound dumbbells tell a different story. Michelle shares her toothpaste analogy for why 50% effort works at the start and then quietly stops working, and why the answer is never keto, soup diets, or blaming your hormones. It's coming back to the basics and actually executing them. Key Topics - Perceived effort vs. actual effort, and why the two rarely match - "I'm aware of what I ate" is not the same as knowing your numbers - The untracked calories hiding in oils, sauces, drinks, and restaurant meals - The toothpaste analogy: the effort that got you started won't get you finished - Going to the gym vs. actually training at the gym - Program hopping, macro hopping, and hormone blaming when the real issue is execution - Why this country doesn't have a weight loss problem, it has a weight maintenance problem - Soft girl era dreams require anything but soft effort right now "Some of you aren't disappointed with your progress. You're disappointed that your progress accurately reflects your effort. And those are two different conversations." If this episode stung a little, good. That's the gap talking. The fix isn't more willpower. It's knowing your numbers and having a coach who won't let you grade your own effort. We show you exactly how that works here

    From 2,000 to 100k - 6 Quotes Driving What's Next | Ep. 47

Michelle flies solo this week and the timing couldn't be better. The day she recorded this episode, she officially hit 100,000 followers on Instagram. She rewinds to 2020, when she had about 2,000 followers (mostly friends and family) and posted her first YouTube video that Matt didn't even want to publish, and traces the journey through Broadway, swinging Tina and Water for Elephants while building BIA backstage, to then moment on stage she knew it was time to leave and go all in on coaching. Then she opens up her sticky notes: six quotes from a recent women's conference that have been living rent-free in her head all week, and how each one maps to her fitness clients, her business, and the life she's building (retirement by 40 is on the record now). The Six Quotes: 1. Stop waiting until you feel ready, if you feel ready, you've already waited too long. 2. Don't monetize what you do. Monetize what and who you are. 3. Every decision is a portal to your future life, indecision is a decision. 4. You have to let go of your old self to step into your higher self. 5. You'll only grow as high as your lowest thought. 6. The level you want to unlock is on the other side of the decision you're afraid to make. What's in this episode - (0:28) The 100k milestone, and a BIA shirt spotted in a Walmart in Maryland - (1:27) The viral reel: leaving Broadway and words for theater performers who feel a pivot coming - (2:24) Starting BIA in 2021 backstage at Tina, and the first messy YouTube video in 2020 - (5:31) Her one piece of advice for coaches trying to grow online: you have to post - (8:21) The other milestone this month, winning Miss Tennessee bikini - (11:00) The six sticky-note quotes, one by one - (18:39) Why "I'll try" and "I'll start Monday" language guarantees you never win - (22:27) On the man comments, judgment, and doing it messy anyway - (26:37) Higher-vibration people only, and the retire-by-40 promise, on the record If you feel like you've waited too long to get started on your health journey...this is your sign. The 10 Fat Loss Questions Everyone Asks Google (Answered by 4 Coaches) | Ep. 45

All four BIA coaches in one room for this one. Michelle pulled the top 10 fat loss questions people are actually asking Google and ChatGPT, then put Coach Emily, Coach Amber, and Coach Brandi on the spot to answer them straight — no fluff, no "it's complicated" cop-outs. Why you're not losing weight even though you eat healthy, whether you have to give up carbs (you don't), why the scale jumps when you're doing everything right, and what a plateau actually means. Plus the questions nobody wants the answer to: yes, the margaritas count, and yes, you're supposed to be a little hungry. If you've ever typed one of these questions into a search bar at midnight, this episode is for you. Key points - Why am I not losing weight even though I eat healthy? Healthy food is still calories. If you're not in a deficit, it doesn't matter how clean the plate looks and weekends are usually where the deficit disappears. - How many calories should I eat? You can't know your deficit until you know your maintenance. Track everything you normally eat for a week or two first, with a food scale, not cups and guesses. - Best macros for fat loss? Nobody can tell you your macros from a DM. General rule from the coaches: protein at roughly 80% of body weight in grams (or goal body weight), moderate fat, and more carbs than fat. - Do I have to give up carbs? No. Bread, rice, fruit, pancakes, potatoes, all fine in a deficit. Never cut out an entire macro. - Why did my weight plateau? A real plateau (three-ish weeks, zero movement) means your old deficit is your new maintenance. Drop food a little, walk more, or both, you don't need to slash everything. - Do I need cardio? Nope. It's a tool, not a requirement. Walking beats the Stairmaster, especially the hanging-on-the-rails version. - Sweat, waist trainers, and belly fat: sweat isn't fat leaving your body, you can't spot reduce, and that waist trainer is only costing you water weight. - Why is the scale up when I'm doing everything right? Salt, your cycle, a late meal, or the drinks you didn't track. Your body tracks the margaritas even when you don't. - How much protein, and when? Goal body weight in grams is a solid target. Mostly from whole food, your gut will not thank you for an all-shake diet. - How long does fat loss take? Slower than you want. Ten pounds in three months is good progress, and the faster it comes off, the less likely it stays off. - What about PCOS? A deficit still applies — it may just sit a little lower. There's no condition that exempts you from energy balance. - And the one nobody likes hearing: if you're in a deficit, you're supposed to be a little hungry. That's it working.
