Joy Even In Grief (It takes time.)

Grief is real, and losing someone you love can shake your heart and your faith. As Christians, we often feel pressure to choose joy because we have hope in Christ. But when grief hangs heavy like a dense fog, joy can feel impossible. If you’re struggling to feel joy after losing someone you love, you are not a bad Christian. In this video, we talk honestly about grief and the Fruit of the Spirit of Joy. The Greek word for joy, chara, can mean “calm happiness”—a quiet contentment that grows from the presence of Jesus. Joy is not something we force or manufacture. As many have discovered, joy isn’t something we simply choose… it’s something that grows when we choose Jesus. I share a deeply personal story about caring for my sister during her battle with cancer, the grief that followed her passing, and the moment when worship unexpectedly restored my joy. If you’re walking through grief, this message is meant to bring you grace, hope, and the reminder that joy can return. In this teaching we explore: • Why grief and faith can coexist • The biblical meaning of the Fruit of the Spirit of joy • Why “choosing joy” isn’t always possible • How choosing Jesus helps joy grow again • How worship can restore joy in the middle of sorrow The Bible reminds us in Romans 15:13 that God is the source of hope, joy, and peace through the power of the Holy Spirit. If you’re grieving today, know this: You will laugh again. You will worship again. And joy can grow again in your heart. Redefining Joy to Have It

Many of us think joy means feeling happy all the time. But if that’s true… most of us would admit we fall short. In this teaching, we explore what the Bible actually means by the Fruit of the Spirit of Joy. The Greek word for joy, chara, can also mean “calm happiness.” That simple phrase changes everything. The apostle Paul understood this kind of joy. In Philippians 4:12–13, he explains that his strength didn’t come from trying harder to be happy—it came from Christ living in him. And in Psalm 16:11, David reminds us that true joy is found in God’s presence. In this video we talk about: • Why joy isn’t the same as constant happiness • How personality and circumstances can affect our emotions • The biblical meaning of joy (chara) • Why contentment and God’s presence are the secret to lasting joy • Simple daily practices that help us experience God’s presence I also share a personal story about rediscovering the importance of time with the Lord and the practices that help me reconnect when my joy feels distant. If you’ve ever struggled to "choose joy” this message is for you. ✨ Next Steps 📖 Get the Bible Reading Plan: (link below) https://tinyurl.com/bdfevp2x 📓 My guided journal “God Is Faithful” is available on Amazon: (link) https://tinyurl.com/7cjketwe Try these simple practices this week: • Journal your sorrows and blessings • Spend time in Scripture • Go outside and notice God’s creation • Talk with Jesus throughout your day website: https://wordsbyandylee.com/
