Great show but ads are off mark

This show covers an important topic in a thoughtful way. My only issue is that the commercials are an odd choice considering the topic. It always is a little jarring from talking about C-Sam and the fathers who committed these crimes and then listening to a Father’s Day gift ad and a Victoria secret ad. It’s just a little weird.

Season 3 … hmm

This is a very well done podcast, covering a horrible story. I think a lot of people who have had family trauma like this will relate. That said, it is disturbing that the wife, Stacey, is all about herself. Her child was the victim of rape yet she weepily says her BIGGEST fear was that her son would blame her and never talk to her again. What?! She also says repeatedly that her husband purposely victimized her by hurting her children. Hello, this is not about you!! You are the parent and this all happened under your nose, which I understand is traumatic. However, now is the time for you to step up and be the mother your children need, not wallow in self-pity about how YOU were affected. I’m sorry to sound harsh, but based on my own experiences and those of others, I have no tolerance for spouses of abusers who put their own pain ahead of their children’s. Her self-centeredness may have been one reason why Tyler never told his mother what was happening - he even says he didn’t want to wreck HER life rather than see her as someone who would protect him. I wish the podcast could have talked about this a bit. The husband is clearly the criminal here, but there are many facets to this type of family abuse.

Empathy!

I try to put myself in this situation. I love and trust my spouse with my life and to have that ripped out? What are you left with? I feel like Stacey did everything right and I praise god that the aunt was vigilant as well. I just hope the family reads these reviews and knows they are amazing for opening up to the world and letting others know they’re not alone. Tyler is an absolute hero in this tale.
