Magic vs. Magical Thinking ft. Michael McDonald

The essence is: There's a feeling to each of these. When someone is in magical thinking, it feels kinda off. It's like the "loose thread" feeling. Magical thinking is rooted in control (ie: "I'm going to do x, y, z so that I can manifest what I want"). And there's a lack of connection to wisdom, more noise in head, and often a lack of time and attention given to the thing that's wanting to be created.  Whereas magic is about hanging out in a quiet mind and giving something time and attention from higher up the ladder of consciousness. It's about staying open and receptive. You are following wisdom, taking action, or trusting when it says to not take action. You're not attached to results. You're rooted in sanity: that the results don't matter and are not going to make you feel better/different. And then, when cool shit happens, you're grateful it happened. But you don't think your ego controlled it into existence.  Magical thinking is rooted in fear and misunderstanding. Magic is rooted in receptivity and sanity.  About Michael: Michael McDonald is a transformational coach for entrepreneurs and executives, working with CEOs, executives, serial entrepreneurs, and mentoring other coaches around the world. With a style described as part Mr. Rogers, part Inception, he helps high performers find effortlessness, inspiration, and simplicity in everything they’re up to, great and small. “Something awesome is trying to happen, and your job is to allow it.” Find Michael online at http://authenticintegrity.com or email him at michael@authenticintegrity.com Kevin: https://www.kevinlawrence.org/ Britta: https://brittakristin.com/ Email questions for ask us anything episodes to britta@brittakristin.com
