    Turning Setbacks into Success: From Forbes Rejection to Selfridges Supplier

    In this episode, Desriee reflects on her ambition to be featured in Forbes 30 under 30 since she was in her 20s, a goal she pursued without fully understanding why. As she watched others achieve this recognition, she believed it was a title she too needed. However, she later realised her focus had shifted from making an impact and helping others, her original intention to merely seeking external validation. Despite her realisation, Desriee still applied for the award but did not get nominated. On the same day she received the rejection, she was presented with such great news, that she became an official supplier for Selfridges. This turn of events echoed the message from Revelation 3:8: “I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it.” This remarkable shift is a powerful testimony to God's love and His word. It demonstrates how He will always make a way and that He has only greatness planned for His children's lives. Desriee had envisioned reaching the retail market in her business's fifth year, but her initial goal was to impact the education field, including nurseries and schools first before anything. The swift transition from a closed door to an open one highlighted a greater purpose for her business, Little Omo, affirming that her journey was guided by a higher plan.     Desriee is a mother, former fashion stylist, and children's book author, is the visionary behind Little Omo, an inclusive educational brand, providing learning materials and toys, while teaching all children about diversity through play. Starting from humble beginnings, her brand has soared to prestigious heights, gracing the shelves of the iconic department store Selfridges and Disneyland California, while earning accolades in press like Metro, Evening Standard, ITV, Elle, and more. In the first episode, Desriee reflects on how her life took an unexpected turn, guided by such success, which she couldn't envision for herself, but God did, something she could not see. Trusting in Him during her lowest times, she recognised the profound impact God had in transforming her life. Despite facing redundancy while seven months pregnant, she embarked on a journey fueled by determination and a desire to create impact.
