    Are You a Lazy Christian?

Are You a Lazy Christian? Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways and be wise. — Proverbs 6:6 Let’s be real—no one gets excited when they hear the word “lazy.” It’s usually a word we use when we’re lying around too long, skipping chores, or putting off homework. But have you ever thought about being spiritually lazy? In Proverbs 6:6, Solomon tells us to look at the ant and learn from it. Why? Because ants are the definition of hard workers. They don’t need anyone watching over them. They plan ahead. They work together. They’re focused and relentless. Now think about your spiritual life. Are you working at it like the ant? Or do you find yourself putting it off? Be honest: • Do you often skip reading your Bible because you’re too tired or “just not in the mood”? • Do you say you’ll pray but then forget or get distracted? • Do you avoid spending time with other believers who encourage your faith? We’ve all been there. Spiritual laziness sneaks in when we let comfort or distraction take over. But just like your body needs food and exercise to stay healthy, your spirit needs prayer, the Word, and time with God to grow strong. Here’s how you can be like the ant in your spiritual life: 1. Be consistent. Even a little time with God every day builds up over time. (See Joshua 1:8) 2. Plan ahead. Set aside time for prayer and Bible reading like you would for anything important. (See Ephesians 5:15-16) 3. Don’t wait to be pushed. Seek God on your own—not because someone tells you to, but because you want to grow. (See Philippians 2:12-13) 4. Work together. Stay connected with other believers—youth group, church, Bible studies. Iron sharpens iron. (See Hebrews 10:25) Reflection Question: If your spiritual life were a workout routine, would you be in training—or on the couch? Today, make a choice to get up spiritually. Learn from the ant. Start small, stay faithful, and keep growing. God isn’t looking for perfect people—He’s looking for willing hearts. Prayer: Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve been lazy in my faith. Give me the desire to seek You daily, and the discipline to keep going even when I don’t feel like it. Help me grow into a strong, faithful follower of Christ. Amen.

    Don’t Let It Destroy You

“Don’t Let It Destroy You” “But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself.” Proverbs 6:32 (NIV) Let’s be honest—today’s culture talks a lot about love, dating, sex, and relationships. But rarely does it talk about the weight of commitment, the value of loyalty, or the destruction that comes from betrayal. Proverbs 6:32 lays it out clearly: when someone cheats or gets involved in a relationship that breaks trust, they’re not just hurting others—they’re wrecking themselves. Adultery, or cheating in any form, is more than just a mistake. It’s a decision that carries deep consequences. It comes with guilt, regret, shame, broken trust, and often broken families. It tears people apart emotionally, spiritually, and even mentally. What might seem like just a moment of pleasure or attention can trigger a domino effect of pain. But here’s the truth you need to hold on to: You are called to something better. God created relationships to be built on trust, respect, and faithfulness. Whether you’re dating, thinking about the future, or just trying to figure out what love really looks like—know this: real love honors. Real love is loyal. And real love is patient enough to wait for the right time and the right person, God’s way. Also know this—God’s grace is real. If you’ve messed up or been hurt by someone who has, don’t stay in guilt or bitterness. God is a healer and a restorer. He doesn’t cancel people—He changes them. When we turn to Him with open hearts, He gives us a fresh start and teaches us to love in ways that are real and lasting. Challenge for Today: Stay true to your values. Don’t let social media, movies, or pressure from others redefine what love should look like. Keep your heart close to God and protect it. If you’re in a relationship, ask yourself: is this building me up or pulling me away from who God wants me to be? Prayer: God, help me to walk in truth and guard my heart from things that could destroy me or hurt others. Teach me to love with integrity and faithfulness. And when I mess up or feel broken, remind me that You’re always ready to forgive and lead me forward. Amen.

Rejoicing in the Wife of Your Youth

Rejoicing in the Wife of Your Youth “Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth.” — Proverbs 5:18 This March marks 31 years of marriage—a journey that began with a walk down the church aisle, where I first saw my bride, young and radiant, the woman God had chosen for me. Time has passed. Her hair is no longer blonde, and life has brought its share of joys and challenges. Yet, when I look at her today, I see the same person: the one who stood beside me before God, ready to walk this path together. Our union has endured not because we are perfect, but because God has been our constant. Through seasons of laughter and seasons of tears, He has been our anchor and the bond that held us close when life tried to pull us apart. True love deepens over time. It moves beyond the outward and settles into the soul. It is found in quiet support, shared burdens, heartfelt prayers, and the unspoken knowing that you are in this together. With God at the center, love grows richer, steadier, and more profound with every passing year. Encouragement: If you’re in a relationship—or hoping for one—let God be your foundation. He is the One who can sustain love when emotions fade and life gets hard. A relationship built on Him is not easily shaken. Celebrate your spouse. Remember why you first fell in love, and choose daily to rejoice in them—flaws, changes, and all. There is no greater joy than walking hand in hand with the person God has given you, especially when your hearts are bound together in Him. Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of love and the blessing of marriage. Thank You for the one You’ve placed by my side. Help us to continue growing together in unity and in You. Strengthen our bond, deepen our love, and remind us always to rejoice in the gift You’ve given us. May our marriage be a testimony of Your faithfulness and grace. Amen.

    Hey, Listen Up!

Hey, Listen Up! “Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many.” - Proverbs 4:10 Ever notice how life’s always on fast-forward? Notifications nonstop, to-do lists piling up, social media buzzing… We hear a lot, but rarely listen. There’s a difference. Hearing is just picking up sound. But listening—really listening—takes focus, intention, and heart. Now think about this: when was the last time you actually stopped and listened to birds singing? Or caught the subtle beauty in a calm piece of music? That kind of listening takes slowing down and paying attention. And that’s exactly what God wants when He says, “Listen to My words.” Why is listening to God so important? Because He doesn’t speak just to fill silence. He speaks to guide, protect, and teach us. Proverbs 4:10 is like a loving dad saying, “Son, daughter—listen to Me. If you pay attention, your life will be fuller, more meaningful, and yes, even longer.” But it’s not just about physical long life. It’s about a better life—less chaos, fewer regrets, more peace, and real direction. How do you actually do that? Turn down the noise — It’s hard, but take a little time each day to unplug and be still. Open your Bible slowly — Don’t rush. Read a small passage and ask, “God, what are You saying to me right now?” Talk to God honestly — No fancy words needed. Just be real. Then stop and listen. Practice listening in daily life — Listen to your parents, friends, teachers… God can use anyone to speak into your life. Today’s Challenge: Take 10 minutes today to sit quietly with God. No music, no phone, just you, your Bible, and Him. Read Proverbs 4:10 and write down what you feel He’s saying to you. Remember: Listening to God changes everything. He wants to speak to you today. Will you listen?

    Discipline Is Care

Discipline Is Care “My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke.” - Proverbs 3:11 Let’s be honest—nobody really likes being corrected. Most of the time it feels annoying, unfair, or just plain hard. But God’s Word makes something crystal clear: His discipline is not rejection—it’s love. Think about it. Since we were kids, we’ve been told that rules exist to protect us. Like when your mom told you to look both ways before crossing the street. It wasn’t to ruin your fun—it was to keep you safe! God works the same way. He doesn’t correct us to flex His authority. He does it because He loves us too much to let us crash and burn. Hebrews 12:6 backs this up: “The Lord disciplines the one He loves.” So if you’re being corrected by God, it means He sees you as His child. That’s huge. Sometimes, God’s discipline comes through a tough situation, a closed door, or even heartbreak. But what if that thing you’re frustrated about is actually God protecting you from something worse? What if it’s part of His bigger plan to make you stronger, wiser, and more grounded? The truth is: growth hurts. But skipping the process costs more. When we understand that even our struggles are part of God’s loving care, we stop complaining and start learning. Today’s Challenge: Think back to a tough situation in your life that, looking back now, taught you something or protected you. Thank God for it—even if it hurt at the time. And if you’re in a hard season right now, ask Him for the wisdom to see what He’s trying to teach you through it. Prayer: “Father, thank You for loving me enough to correct me. Help me understand that Your discipline isn’t punishment—it’s protection and growth. Open my eyes to see Your purpose, even in hard times. Teach me to trust Your process more than my feelings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    Trust in the Lord

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5 Complete trust in God is the only logical attitude for Christians. He possesses all knowledge and power; He sees every challenge ahead and prepares people for sudden emergencies. Relying on one’s own understanding in such circumstances is truly foolish. It is equally unwise to waver between trusting oneself and trusting God. Trusting less in your own understanding does not mean setting aside your intelligence or surrendering your power of choice. Intelligence is essential for understanding God’s Word and discerning His divine will through His guiding providence. A will that is strengthened and purified by God is crucial to staying on the right path until the end. This message is deep, inspiring, and captures the essence of Christian faith: depending on God in every area of life. Proverbs 3:5 invites us to a wholehearted surrender, recognizing that human understanding is limited, while God’s wisdom is infinite and perfect. Placing full trust in God doesn’t mean neglecting the gifts He has given us—such as intelligence, reason, and decision-making ability. Rather, it means using those gifts in alignment with His will, allowing His guidance to shape every choice and thought. This kind of trust is not passive but active. It requires a continuous relationship with God through prayer, studying the Word, and walking in obedience. As we grow in trust, we are strengthened to face life’s challenges with courage, knowing that He is in control of all things. “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.” – Psalm 37:5

    Why Not Just Ask?

Why Not Just Ask? “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” - Proverbs 2:6 This verse reveals the solution to many of life’s problems. If I had known it was this simple, I would’ve had far fewer headaches along the way. Sometimes we face challenges and try to solve them our own way, relying on our limited understanding, forgetting that God is right there, ready to guide us and show us what to do. He knows everything. So why not ask Him for the wisdom and insight we need? It really is that simple! This verse is a powerful invitation to trust in the divine source of wisdom. So often, in our humanity, we try to handle things on our own, which only leads to frustration and exhaustion. But God is always willing to guide us, to give us knowledge and understanding when we seek His direction. The simplicity of this act—asking God for wisdom—is often overlooked because we’ve grown so used to depending on ourselves. But God’s Word teaches us that He is the source of all knowledge, and when we turn to Him, we receive clarity and direction. James 1:5 echoes this truth: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” The great secret lies in surrendering—recognizing that He knows more than we ever could. When we give our problems to God and trust in His timing and purposes, we find peace, even in the midst of adversity. What a privilege it is to know that we have a loving and wise Father who is always ready to help us!
