I’ve often thought of late that there’s more to scripture than we’ve been conventionally taught. You all are filling some much needed gaps in Christian education. The latest episode on slavery was good but fell short of addressing oft avoided verses - Leviticus 25:45-46 - which has been used to justify chattel slavery in the Americas.

I was hoping for a more academic discussion about etymology, the problem of playing telephone with multiple translations by people who have cultural influences of their own, and how it has all affected modern interpretations of religious literature. The presenters are passionate about their beliefs, and I appreciate that they are trying to widen the scope of the language of belief. I was just hoping for more critical analysis and less proselytizing. That’s totally fine, just know that you may not be getting into what you thought.

I didn’t know that there was more to words than what they mean in English. I’ve loved learning more about what the Bible actually says.

As someone who struggles with reading and understanding scripture, this short digestible podcast breaks down biblical words in a beautiful way. Very excited to add this to my weekly listening.
