Big Ting Recordings

Big Ting Recordings

Big Ting Recordings strives to create exposure for the many talented artists working to develop Australia's specific bass sound. Be it techno, drum & bass, dubstep, or otherwise, Big Ting Recordings does not show bias to any specific flavour of bass driven music, we celebrate all sounds pushing the envelope of rhythm, energy, and sub frequencies. We acknowledge that we create and distribute music on unceded land. We recognise the true custodians of this land, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. Irene J. - Vue

Jungle and autonomic extraordinaire, Irene J. joins Big Ting Recordings for his debut release on the label. Irene J. bring his own modern spin on the autonomic sounds of old, weaving warm harmonies with futuristic drums to create a truly cinematic musical experience. Vue/Warming Sign captivates the ears with two iconic tracks that celebrate warm heavy basslines and polyrhythmic percussion. Marking his first return to the label since BTR001, Arloski delivers an amen-heavy, atmospheric jungle rework of “Vue.” The title track, “Vue”, is a harmonious journey through multi-coloured breakbeats and glitched out percussion. Minimal yet emotive, the title track is defined by its detached, spacious textures and rolling off-kilter grooves that create a dreamlike sense of motion. The tune inspires warmth, space, and melancholy for lovers of all bass-heavy genres. “Warming Sign” is a showcase of Irene J’s creative juxtaposition between hard glitchy broken beats and warm inviting pads and melodies. The tune thrives on subtlety, textural grooves, muted tones, and space left intentionally between sounds, inviting deep and considered listening to Irene J’s innovative skills as a producer. Closing out the release, a familiar face to the label, Arloski, reworks the title track “Vue” into a high pressure amen filled epic, traversing the sounds of minimal drum & bass, half-time, and jungle. In his remix, broken-beat percussion collides with deep sub pressure and space-age atmosphere before resolving to the tear-out jungle amen sounds we all love. Irene J. pays homage to the sounds of old whilst also embracing modern production and forward-thinking compositional elements for a true celebration of Australian produced minimal drum & bass.
