During a 2009 mission in Afghanistan, Harrison used a L115A3 Long Range Rifle to eliminate two Taliban machine gunners near Musa Qala in Helmand Province. After taking several ranging shots with his spotter, he delivered two consecutive hits—each a fatal shot at extreme range. The feat was later confirmed by an Apache helicopter using a laser rangefinder, validating the remarkable distance. This man landed three consecutive shots on three separate targets—from a range farther than anyone in history has ever achieved with an infantry rifle. He shattered the previous record, held by legendary Canadian sniper Rob Furlong, surpassing it by 50 yards—about half the length of a football field. Harrison’s military career spanned multiple combat zones, including Iraq, the Balkans, and Afghanistan, where he developed a reputation for precision shooting under pressure.
