COVID-19 Cancel Culture: UConn 2020 Football Season Over Now, Others to Follow

The University of Connecticut cancels the 2020 football season due to the risk of COVID-19 spread. Are the UConn Huskies just the lead dog falling in an avalanche of others to follow? Will people take the pandemic more seriously now that it hits college football? Is it just another symptom of 'Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds'? And should a team that went 2-10 last year have waited until another team cancelled its season in order to avoid providing fodder for jokes and memes?

Minneapolis Police to Locals: Do What the Thugs Tell You, Prepare to Be Robbed

Minneapolis Police to Locals: Do What the Thugs Tell You, Prepare to Be Robbed

Minneapolis police tell locals you should do what criminals tell you, and prepare to be robbed of your iPhone or cash. Is this new guidance from a demoralized, soon-to-be defunded force, a rhetorical tool in negotiations with local politicians who seem eager to slash budgets and take cops off the beat? Or did someone publish mundane news in this inflamed context so that it seems related to the reaction to the death of George Floyd?

COVID-19 Class Action: Student Wants Refund, Feels Cheated by 'Zoom Yale'

COVID-19 Class Action: Student Wants Refund, Feels Cheated by 'Zoom Yale'

Yale University unfairly enriched itself by failing to issue a partial refund to students who ended the spring semester with online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Student Jonathan Michel feels cheated because he paid for the full Yale experience, which he didn't get. Others are suing Cal State, UConn, Cornell, Columbia, Fordham, Pace, the University of California and others. What do colleges and universities really sell? Is it just credits and diplomas? Is Zoom Yale still Yale? If so, why do some cost so much more than others? And should tax payers have to fund 'the college experience' via federal education loans and grants?

Universities

You are, spot on, of your concerns with universities.

I went to a smaller college where my instructors came from real life, not academic.

That vaulted me into a 35 year career in the industry I loved. Retired now but with so much real world knowledge.

Military?

I love your show Mr. Whittle. It’s very fun to listen to a Conservative, a moderate liberal, and another Conservative. I would appreciate if you would clarify, on your next show, if you were in the military, and if so, what branch?

Entertaining and Informative

Bill’s Apollo series should have won awards, lots of them. His daily podcasts are informative and to the point. Good stuff.
