There are about 550.000 – 600.000 architects in Europe, maybe even more if you consider those that are not practising as architects. Choosing a profession is not an easy task. Usually, the decision is made based on an ideal image that might only show one part of the profession. During life we change; our mindset changes, our situation in life and many other things might lead us to change our work. 'Architects in EU research' is the podcast by the Architects' Council of Europe (ACE), a non-profit advocacy organisation based in Brussels. The podcast is a series of interviews with several architects who share with us their professional journey in the architectural world and how they got involved in European funded Projects on innovation and education. The lives of the architects presented can provide inspiration for architecture students, showing the various careers possible with an architecture degree. They will also explain cutting edge research and its applicability and importance to architectural practices. Join us to explore the possible working paths in an architect's life.

    In this episode, Dr. Veronika Schröpfer (ACE Head of EU Research Projects) interviewed Dr. César Mifsut Garcia (Architect at EVha) on TripleA-reno. TripleA-reno is an H2020 EU-funded project raising awareness and providing guidance on the different phases of the renovation process for decision-makers (designers, architects, engineers, customers, such as homeowners, building managers). With the use of gamified support tools, TripleA-reno helps the stakeholders understand the renovation process, guiding them into making economically wise and sustainable decisions in home renovations, thus making renovations Attractive, Acceptable and Affordable and supporting the up-take in the EU market.     In this episode Dr Veronika Schröpfer (ACE Head of EU Research Projects) interviewed Elisabeth O’ Brien (Architect and Senior Project Officer for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Building Research and Development - Limerick Institute of Technology) about BIMzeED, a three-year Erasmus+ project on BIM in higher and vocational education. BIMzeED develops and pilots 12-16 Learning Units as Open Educational Resources (OERs), and train and upskill 120 educators at European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Vocational Education and Trainings (VETs). The Learning Units will be common units with flexible standardised delivery (in class, on-line and on-site) suitable for HEI and VET training.
