BINARY BASHERS

Embracing All of Me

History loves neat categories. We don't. Black or white. Saint or sinner. Hero or villain. Gay or straight. The people who shape culture often live somewhere in between. Communicator Award winner. International podcast award nominee, Diepodfluencer. Binary Bashers is a storytelling podcast about the artists, rebels, and cultural icons whose lives broke the labels the world tried to give them. Each episode follows one life, or a few connected ones, through the music, poems, paintings, letters, and relationships they left behind, with the cultural context that made them possible. The series centers bi+ history, the part of these stories most often skipped, flattened, or folded into something else. Host Ross Victory reads each figure through a bi-coded lens: finding documented attraction to more than one gender in their own words, art, and relationships, and translating that evidence for listeners today. The lens never assigns a label a person didn't claim. It shows what the record holds and lets them stay who they were. Every episode is made for anyone curious about culture, identity, and the lives behind famous names. If you've ever felt like you didn't fit a neat box, you'll find precedent here. If you just love a great story told well, you'll find that too. VOLUMES Binary Bashers: Volume 1 Black American history, from the Harlem Renaissance to today. Claude McKay, Alice Dunbar-Nelson, Countee Cullen, June Jordan, Pauli Murray, Kuwasi Balagoon, Dr. Ibrahim Farajajé, and more. Binary Bashers: Latinidad (Volume 2) Latin American history across music, literature, art, and politics. Juan Gabriel, Alejandra Pizarnik, Frida Kahlo, and more. FOR EDUCATORS Episodes are fully sourced and built for classrooms, book clubs, and community groups. Suitable for listeners 16+. Vol 2. Latinidad - I Know What You've Been Saying about Me - Mario de Andrade and the Love of Everything

Mário de Andrade spent his life resisting the demand to become one thing. Poet, novelist, musician, folklorist, photographer, and architect of Brazilian modernism, he made contradiction part of his form. In 1928, responding to rumors about his “so-called homosexuality,” Mário wrote: “I don’t deny it.” Years later, he created a word for himself and described in himself a kind of “pan-sensuality,” while private writings and correspondence left evidence pointing in more than one direction. This episode follows those fragments alongside Macunaíma, his complicated modernist masterpiece, and the archive he sealed for fifty years. Binary Bashers: Latinidad asks what happens when a life, and its archive, refuses to resolve itself for us. Also, Embracing All of Me, the podcast and producer of Binary Bashers has been nominated for a Signal Award. Binary Bashers: Latinidad - Who Was Allowed to Be Written Down

Binary Bashers: Latinidad uncovers the hidden bi-coded and queer history of Black and Brown Latin America, from Mexico to Brazil, Texas to Argentina, to the seven countries where the archive went silent by design. Launching for Latinx Heritage Month 2026, Volume 2 of the Binary Bashers audio docu-series turns south, tracing bi-coded and queer-coded lives across the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking Americas: Juan Gabriel's refusal to be labeled, Mário de Andrade's one surviving letter, Frida Kahlo in her own hand, Reinaldo Arenas writing his memoir from a hospital bed, and Marielle Franco, the Afro-Brazilian councilwoman whose murder didn't silence her. This trailer also confronts what and who is missing. Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Uruguay, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Ecuador: seven countries where almost no bi+ or queer Afro-Latino history survives on record, and why that silence is evidence, not absence. Hosted, researched, and written by Ross Victory apart of the Embracing All of Me, storytelling platform for bi+, queer, and BIPOC voices. No speculation, no erasure, just the archive followed to the end. New episodes dropping throughout Latinx Heritage Month. This is Volume 2. Catch up on Binary Bashers Volume 1, our original Black History Month 2026 series, wherever you listen. #BinaryBashers #Latinidad #LatinxHeritageMonth #BiVisibility #QueerHistory #AfroLatino #EmbracingAllOfMe #LGBTQPodcast
