In addition, he serves as the CEO & co-founder of HEKA Therapeutics Inc. and is a co-founder of ACHLYS; two spinoff companies devoted to drug discovery. Prof. Edwards is an associate professor at University of Calgary in the Faculty of Kinesiology and the principal investigator of the Human Performance Laboratory. His lab, focused on extremely interdisciplinary projects, spans topics such as bone fracture and fatigue from a cellular level all the way to a whole-body view. The projects undertaken by the Edwards Group integrate biomechanical experimentations with in silico analysis such as imaging and computational modeling to identify non-invasive methods to measure bone integrity. Dr.Anna Blakney is a Professor of Bioengineering at UBC, COVID-19 vaccine researcher, member of #TeamHalo, and TikTok Star with over 3 million likes and 200 000 followers. Professor Blakney’s lab is a multidisciplinary group of engineers, immunologists, and molecular biologists investigating the interactions between RNA, biomaterials, and the immune system to prevent and treat disease. Aside from leading the Blakney lab, she has amassed millions of views of TikTok as a part of #TeamHalo debunking vaccine myths, dispelling rumors, and educating through short, fun videos! Join us as we discuss the trajectory of RNA vaccines, TikTok, and the vaccine rollout here in Canada! (as well as some tips from Prof Blakney herself).

Elizabeth Gillies is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario. She leads a research program in smart materials and biomaterials spanning from fundamental discoveries to applications with a focus on polymer chemistry. collaborating with other research groups, she is now exploring the applications of her materials in drug delivery, regenerative medicine, and agriculture. Join us as we delve further into the world of biotechnology.
