Bipolar Recorder

Hunter Keegan

Bipolar Recorder is an American mental health outreach initiative created by writer and musician, Hunter Keegan. The podcast revolves around stories from people who live with bipolar disorder and/or other forms of serious mental illness (SMI). Interviews with mental health professionals and other expert guests are also periodically featured. Fiercely independent ever since its inception in 2021, Bipolar Recorder is known for providing candid, unfiltered, and sometimes controversial takes on living with SMI. Over the years, Bipolar Recorder has evolved from a podcast series to a multifaceted grassroots advocacy project involving books, documentary films, online peer support communities, university presentations, and more. Bipolar Recorder brings complex human stories that are too often overshadowed by social stigma into the light and fosters dialogues about surviving (or even thriving) with mental illness. 66. Veteran Big Pharma Sales Rep, "Smitty", Discusses His Bipolar Journey With Medication And Self Care

***IMPORTANT: Be sure to listen to the intro segment for this installment of the podcast. It provides important context for the interview. Hunter Keegan is joined for the 66th official installment of the Bipolar Recorder podcast by a new guest. Andrew "Smitty" Smith spent nearly three decades working as a sales representative for major pharmaceutical companies that develop and manufacture psych meds (including Risperidone). It wasn't until Smitty reached his late 30s that he received a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder Type I (BD1) following an acute manic episode. In this interview, Smitty discusses his personal journey with bipolar disorder and explores with Hunter the unique intersection that his personal mental health played in the latter years of his career as a pharmaceutical sales representative. Smitty is not on social media and did not have any projects that he wanted to plug during this interview. SUPPORT THE BIPOLAR RECORDER "GOODBYE, 25' FUNDING DRIVE"!!!
