Black Cloud Society was born out of a necessity to fill a gap in ems podcasts. A gap that typically avoids the discussion of EMS culture and its need to change. While EMS Podcasts that cover clinical and educational topics are much needed, Black Cloud Society is a place where listeners can take a different point of view. A place where listeners can come and reflect on themselves, their peers, and their agencies; and hopefully be inspired to evolve. Not just evolve in their own mindset or practice, but to evolve the very Black Cloud that shades the culture of EMS.

    What do you do in the moment when everything in you wants to quit, but the moment doesn’t care? Not after the call. Not in the debrief. Not back at the station. Inside the moment. In Part 2 of Why Attributes Matter, we shift from the idea of attributes into the first, and most foundational one: grit. Because this job doesn’t just test what you know. It tests who you are when pressure closes in and the margin for error disappears. Grit is the engine. The thing that keeps you moving when your body, your mind, and your emotions all start pulling in the wrong direction. We break it down into four pieces: courage, perseverance, adaptability, and resilience...and talk about how each one shows up on scene, under stress, and over the course of a career. Because the truth is, skill might get you on the truck.But grit is what keeps you effective when it counts.
