He believes the Butcher murdered his mother and is not the same killer as the Ripper, so he sets out to gather more evidence. This episode contains graphic violence.

He brought skeletons from Chicago to sell to the Medical School at the London Hospital. While there, he confirmed that an old friend, Major Roslyn D'Onston Stephenson, a practitioner of black magic, was checked in to the Currie Ward. He’d hoped old "Sudden Death" Stephenson could help him with his "shadow".
