“Mental Health & ME” With Destiné Perkins ✌🏽

Good Morning Nashville ☀️ WE ARE EXCITED TO BE DEBUTING AN ALL NEW SEASON, DEDICATING THE ENTIRE MONTH OF MAY TO THE BLACK WOMEN IN OUR COMMUNITY! THE THEME OF THIS MONTH: MENTAL HEALTH & ME ‼️ A native of the city, a mother, but she emphasizes first that she is a child of God above anything else. This young lady on our show is also a music artist. If you stay tuned in today’s episode, we have one of her hit singles that you will hear directly on the show. Presenting to some and introducing to others, our good friend and sister Destiné Perkins. ✌🏽 Destiné comes to the show today to vent about a lot of things she’s experienced within her spiritual transition. Earlier in the show, we talk about all the dynamics associated with the unfortunate death of her child’s father, the infamous and well-respected DJ in our city, Malik Khayyam. 🕊️ For the first time, Destiné admits to a lot of mental struggles she faced not only hearing the tragic news, but also hearing more things about him even after his passing. Nonetheless, a beautiful baby girl 🌺 was the result of what others may perceive as a bad situation. Destiné talks about her daughter truly being her saving grace, and has helped her along her journey of turning from the world, and leaning more into Jesus and her faith. She attests to the fact that even before she knew God, He was in the midst to show Himself true even when she wasn’t following Him with intention. We all make mistakes, but Destiné assures us that her new walk is far more calculated than her old walk. This episode is loaded with good conversation and of course a great story, take some time to listen to a black woman vent today. ❤️ “Have You Heard A Black Man Vent Today?”™️ We are 23 streams away from 23,000 streams across ALL podcasting platforms! “Mental Health & ME” With Dr. Denise Knowles ✌🏽

Good Morning Nashville ☀️ WE ARE EXCITED TO BE DEBUTING AN ALL NEW SEASON, DEDICATING THE ENTIRE MONTH OF MAY TO THE BLACK WOMEN IN OUR COMMUNITY! THE THEME OF THIS MONTH: MENTAL HEALTH & ME ‼️ To anyone listening in today … as black men, we have to really be more intentional behind protecting our black women. With that said … let’s get into today’s second episode for our Mental Health & Me Season on the Black Men Vent Too Podcast ⭐️ Coming all the way from Dickson county, talking to today’s guest felt like we were at home in the backyard … enjoying a cookout with family. Speaking of, she is family to us! And it’s just amazing how small the world can be, but how God will connect the dots to get you to where you need to be. 🙏🏽 This young lady surely wears a lot of hats, is truly multi-faceted, and never sits down. BMVT is proud to present to some and introduce to others, the mother, the Doctor, the wife, the coach, and our dear cousin and friend … Dr. Denise Knowles ⭐️ Dr. Denise is a HUGE advocate for family, as she highlights her children, marriage, and how important it is to possess a positive co-parenting dynamic if that is the situation at hand. She vents with us about how she had experienced relationships that were not serving her well. As black women, a bad relationship and the trauma surrounding it can show on their body without us as men even recognizing it. Well, there is a young man by the name of Demetrius Knowles, that assured Dr. Denise that her scars were just a part of a beautiful canvas. Marriage is highly underrated in today’s time because it’s often looked at as a “business” or a contractual agreement. But in today, Dr. Denise talks about how “Dee” helped her to truly embrace her femininity and thrive in it. We got a good one for you guys, take some time to listen to a black woman vent today. ✌🏽 “Have You Heard A Black Man Vent Today?”™️ We are blessed to have been heard in over 107 countries at least one time. “Mental Health & ME” With Lavonda “Mikki” Brown ✌🏽

With that said … let’s get into today’s first episode for our Mental Health & Me season on the Black Men Vent Too Podcast ⭐️ A native of Kansas City, Missouri, migrating here three years ago, and raised by a single mother that she says “did not play”. We present to some and introduce to others our good friend and sister Mrs. Lavonnda “Mikki” Brown. ⭐️ Being the first out of her siblings to go to college, she originally went to school to be a mathematician. While not taking on that career fully, she was able to learn something’s that led her to working at a bank after graduating from college. She talks to us about going through pregnancy during her 3rd year of school, while working roughly 40-45 hour weeks as well as be enrolled in a dual-enrollment program that had her split between two schools. She gives God all the credit and the glory, and really encourages our audience to walk through their mental health journey with a little more faith. ✝️ But, isn’t it often frustrating when someone will tell you to just “pray” your problems away? For some, it may not be as easy as sending up a prayer, and often times we miss the opportunity to be present by thinking that a prayer is the immediate answer to immediate issues. We talk with Mrs. Mikki about the line between mental health and faith, and how it becomes jaded in conversation with which one should benefit the other. You’ll enjoy today’s episode, take some time to listen to a black woman vent today. ✌🏽 “Have You Heard A Black Man Vent Today?”™️ We are blessed to have been heard in over 107 countries at least one time. Presenting to some and introducing to others, our good friend and brother, Mr. Marcus Millien 💫 Marcus comes to our platform and talks with us about his passion behind not only the game of basketball, but the game of life. A lot of his credit was given to his mother, whom he states has been a true pinnacle piece of his life and overall development. Marcus spent some time overseas playing basketball, and told us that his mother’s values instilled in him gave him what he needed to be successful. Overseas, he talks with us about how it’s so important to not dwell on the “highs”, because the same way fans will love you one day, they’ll hate you the next. How many times have we seen professionals play years in their respective sport, but can’t come down from the excitement of what that life brings? So many athletes have allowed their emotions to get the best of them after an extended career, but Marcus has showed us with his story that with faith and a firm foundation … you can bounce back from anything and reinvent who you are. About

“We Are A Nashville Based Podcast That Focuses On Open & Opinionated Conversations About Black Men Issues” Father and Son duo Leon Davis, Jr. & Johnathon Davis have created a platform that gives listeners both a millennial and “old school” perspective on black men issues and mental health. Too many black men suffer from years of suppressed emotions. This podcast provides these men with a chance to get things off their chest while hopefully, with their testimony, inspiring other black men to do the same as well. It’s time for your voice to be heard brother … come vent with us today 🎙🖤 #BMVT
