    How We Became A Blended Family

    We met on Bumble, moved fast, and suddenly we weren’t just dating anymore, we were building a home. We’re Kenedi and Lakim, a white woman and a Black man raising a beautifully blended family, and we’re keeping it unfiltered about what it actually takes to make an interracial marriage and step parenting work. From long distance to marriage in under a year, our origin story is equal parts intentional and messy, with one key rule that saved us early: be direct, FaceTime, and don’t play games. Then we go deeper into the stuff couples usually dodge. We talk about race terminology like Black vs African American, why “colored” hits differently across generations, and how American history still lives inside everyday words.
