I’m a Catholic woman and pregnant, and have been disappointed by this podcast.
A forty minute episode could have been summed up in 10 minutes.
The women do not have a professional tone, voice, or language and sound like Kardashians (“yasss, UHM, jahst) - especially Maggie is unfortunately not pleasant to listen to.
They provided resources but by name only with no practical ideas I.e “read this book” or “get this app.”
They also talk about how our culture downplays birth - how people only tell the bad/pain of birth. This has not been my experience at all, and many women have been supportive and shared wonderful birth stories with me upon seeing my pregnant belly.
They also fail to realize many of their comments significantly downplay motherhood (I.e. “I was up all night with someone who shall not be named” etc.)
Lastly, their insistence in “God designed birth” and “your body was made for this” is an effort to control birth “their way,” and does not acknowledge birth ALL ways, including C-section and epidural. Gabby even takes about how disappointed she was in her birth experience - showing that she doesn’t “practice what she preaches” in ceding her own control over birth to her body and God.
